Yesterday, my husband and I started Phase 1 of the Atkins diet. This was a big change. I LOVE my carbs! However, I've realized that carbs are my biggest demise. After reviewing several accredited articles, I've learned that, based on my body type, a low-carb diet will be my saving grace in losing these last 30-40 lbs. We cleaned out our temptations (flavored yogurt, granola bars, cereal, etc) and then re-stocked our fridge with fresh produce and lean meats. I've worked hard to prepare a weekly menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and ensured our grocery list satisfied the recipes. I was pleasently surprised yesterday and this morning that my new low-carb diet was actually not hard at all to follow. I am really liking my protein-rich breakfast. I was surprised at how full I stayed up until lunch-time! I have gotten back on the coffee-bandwagon but not the extreme that I used to be. I got a 16 oz coffee yesterday and sipped on it throughout my workday (even having to heat it up once!) in between my water. I stopped and got another coffee this morning but haven't started it yet. I was happy to see a little drop on the scale this morning so I'm feeling focused right now to stay on track. I really want to be able to lose some weight before the holidays so I have the motivation to not de-rail during the family holiday dinners. I think it is definitely going to make a huge difference having my husband on-board this time. We are going to start doing light-calisthenics (sp?) 3 days a week so that will be fun to do together as well!
