Ms Elizabeth's Journal, 01 November 2014

It's day one of dairyfarmerswife's November madness. I decided to swear off sugar for the entire month of November. I also joined a 30 day fitness challenge. Between these two things I'm hoping to be able to button my pants by December or at least get down to 185.

Despite the house being full of candy and cupcakes I succeeded in not eating sugar. I over ate on everything else but I avoided the sugar and didn't attempt to kill anyone even though the entire family was walking around stuffing their cheeks with mini candy bars.

Day 1 fitness challenge
35 sec plank
5 push-ups
55 squats
25 sit-ups

Sometimes it's better just to eat that one chocolate bar then to eat lot's of other foods to try to keep away from the chocolate. Sugar in small amounts is not the enemy, going over our RDI and not exercising is the problem.

Good luck! You can do this!!! :) I decided to join the process this challenge on Sept. 22nd and so far I have lost 14 pounds. The challenge is over but I am continuing on. I haven't been exercising, just relying on the magic milk makers to burn calories for me. (I think you had Jason about 6 weeks after I had Brinley.) When I joined process this I cut out most processed foods, sugar and wheat. So no breads or pastas, or anything with sugar, high fructose corn syrup or gum on the label. At first I was bored with my food choices but then I became more creative. ***It's also nice to have a reason to turn things away when you are offered*** The important thing to do is plan ahead for those snack times. Nuts, although high in fat, seem to be my easy go to and they are readily available; prunes, too when I want something sweet. Although the combination can be risky. If you have trouble eating all of your snacks in one day, just bring enough for the day or have a friend keep them in her/his desk drawer. :) It does get easier. The cravings do subside and you won't be as hungry either. Things I miss now are not the super sweet items, but things like sour cream and ketchup. Good luck. I am rooting for you!!

Wow - great job on the plank! Our gym is doing "Planksgiving" and adding 10 seconds per dy so by the end of the month it something nuts like a 5 minute plank...
