Who gets hungry pains and what do you do about them....besides eat something.

My pains can actually make me feel sick, and trust me, I'm not starving myself lately! :)

When I get that way (usually during my morning walk or while dinner is cooking) I drink a bottle of water. It gives especially my stomach something to do and really does help.

I get them sometimes at night (like if I wake up in the middle of the night) and I usually just try to find a position laying down that helps it. If it's during the day, sometimes coughing helps. But definitely water or something light and carby (a piece of bread or a cracker) helps a ton! Calcium should help balance the acids in your stomach too, right? Like help with the stomach lining.

I try to reach for protein or fat. I'll grab a string cheese or something super small and light like that.

Ditto on the water tip, it stops my empty feelings. I also keep a jar of natural no sugar added peanut butter in my fridge, if the hunger actually starts making my stomach hurt or I get nauseous I eat a teaspoon of peanut butter and it usually stays with me a while. If you are in the presence of food, even the smell can trigger your gastrointestinal tract to secrete bile into your stomach in anticipation of you actually eating something, that bile can make you feel ill if it is sitting in an empty stomach with nothing to force it to enter your small intestine for the next stage of digestion. Rumbling alone is caused by a different hormone and it is usually not accompanied by pain or nausea and can usually be quieted with water

You have to find what works for you. Do you eat 3 meals a day? Are you fasting? Are you eating a lot of carbs? How's your sodium intake? Are you eating a lot of junk food? I find that I do better by eating 3 meals a day. I like starting off with 3 egg whites (only 17 cal each egg, good protein). I'm trying to only eat bread (whole wheat or rye) once a day. Some say eating a lot of carbs make you hungrier. A lot of sodium will cause you to retain water. Drinking a lot of water helps with the hunger and also flushes out the sodium. Junk food, (i.e. cake, candy) definitely makes me hungry and I wind up eating way too much of it once I get started. You'll find what works for you and then whoosh, you'll start losing.

Maybe figure out if they are happening at the same time of day. If they are, plan a snack in your meals for that time of day. I find carrots, a piece of fruit, a peanut butter sandwich on my whole grain bread are good options for me. Especially a peanut butter sandwich after work on the way to the gym, since dinner will be delayed.

Thank you for your thoughts. I was just wondering if anyone else was plaque with hunger pains all through the day like I am. My first one starts at 9AM, then about 1-2pm then 4pm. I'm eat protein for Breakfast and Lunch and add in Carbs for dinner. Rare that I eat any junk food or candy. I'll try a small amount of peanut butter and maybe some string cheese and see if that helps. Water just doesnt work for me at all. Thank you.
