Went to the Doctor today. Got my blood test results. My cholesterol is borderline high but my fasting blood sugar and A1C is still acceptable. What I didn't expect was a high Urate rating. Apparently this is something that appears with gout, but not always. I don't eat much protein and I don't drink wine, but my internet research indicates that sometimes it is just high without any symptoms. I have been thinking lately that I need to drink more water, and that may help.
On the very interesting side, there is some indication that there might be some atypical PCOS going on, and that might be the reason behind some of my symptoms, irregular periods, depression, inability to lose weight even with diet and exercise and the ever-popular appearance of facial hair ! And which of those symptoms do you think bothers me the most? LOL. Anyway, off to the Gynecologist who can hopefully sort this out. I understand the treatment may be birth control pills. Who ever heard of birth control pills to lose weight? Color me confused.

Thanks snezica and kaysilke. No matter what the treatment, I still have to lose weight, exercise more and drink more water! One study I read today, said one ounce of water for every two pounds of body weight, per day. That's 115 ounces a day !!!!! Holy cow. I have a reusable water bottle that holds 24 ounces, I'm lucky to get two of them down a day and they want me to drink close to five ! Wish me luck, hah.

I have PCOS and it is not fun I have been to doctors and gynos and all sorts of people no one can seem to help much the diet and exercise thing helps but even then I only lost 50 I got really discouraged and now I am back up 30 pounds of the 50 so back on the diet I go maybe I can lose 50 more and be down 70 estrogen avoid it at all costs when you have PCOS your body has estrogen fat cells produce estrogen your body has androgen hence the facial hair but your body doesn't produce progesterone which your body needs to even things out emotional rollercoaster slowed down and depression a little better although he put me on an anti depressant called citalopram low dose only like 10mg but it helps soo much and my periods have evened out I went 3 years without one once sometimes I miss those days when I am hemorrhaging and feel like I am dying but at least I know my body is some what functioning properly if I didnt pull my chin hairs with tweezers I could grow a full beard and half a mustache I feel your pain hun I hope you can get it sorted out

Chris you are doing great on your diet, I do suspect that once you get in the 190-180 weight range you will need to drop your Rdi from 1700 to the 1500-1400 or less depending on exercise - keep up with doctor visits and monitoring- Great job overall

Thanks for the info. iriswest2004. Plucking sucks, I feel YOUR pain too. Ya pwrestlephoto, I figure I will have to drop it someday...thanks for believing I will get to the 190 range, lol. I know my ability to exercise has been increasing, so theoretically that will keep going up as my weight goes down. And I sure am looking forward to it, sheesh.
