Deb_N's Journal, 29 September 2014

Did not lose anything, but today is the final weigh in of The Kitchen is Closed challenge so I wanted to weigh in for that. I'm still going to not eat after dinner. That has become a good habit for me. I forget when I started doing it, but it's been a good two months at least. After dinner I have tea or decaf coffee and sugar free gum. If I want it, I have one piece of sugar free candy, not two or three. If I stay up too late and think I am starving, I eat 3 almonds, brush my teeth and go to sleep. I don't think tea or decaf, sugar free gum, a piece of sugar free candy or 3 almonds violates the no eating after dinner rule. It's just psychological comfort, not a binge.
142.2 lb Lost so far: 59.8 lb.    Still to go: 6.2 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

I agree with you Deb. I also stop eating after 7 p.m., and I will have a cup of green tea before I go to sleep if I feel like I am still hungry. If it works for you, keep doing it.

Glad that worked so well for you that you plan to continue. Sometimes that is how my night goes, but most of the time I pick a few almonds and a piece of fruit or some other similar combo. I try to avoid major junk food, as that is more binging than eating. I believe that for some people (myself included), a bedtime snack is necessary. I do, however agree with the tooth brushing defense! Whenever I can't seem to turn off the munchies, I brush my teeth to prevent it. You go girl!

I also find almonds to be quite satisfying, also walnuts. And it doesn't seem to take much to curb my hunger.

Satisfying but a little addictive if the jar is too close.

One Brazil nut is about 32 calories and has approximately 3.2 grams of heart healthy fat. Really satisfying. I buy the ones that have no salt.
