Starting Atkins

I realised I was too big and too heavy, and I have to make something about it NOW. Not next week, not when my 40th birthday comes, and not at new years eve.

I had several diet attempts in the past few years and a major one in 2006 when I lost about 25 Kgs from a starting weight of 98 Kg. I become so fit that I ran the Stockholm Marathon in 3:24. But, thats in the past and now is now. Unfortunately being used the frequent training in my youth years, my body demanded it even when I could not do it anymore due to family life and comfort.
I am sw. engineer sitting 8-9 hours at my desk and having maybe too many weekend overtime hours.
As I said, I had other attempts before with more or less success, some of them tracked in Fatsecret. My main problem was/is the lack of patience. I expect result fast and constantly. But who doesn't?
Previous diets were either Atkins or VLCD. Last successful one was a VLCD, when I lost 10 Kgs in a month. I decided to do it because my cholesterol levels were really bad. After losing the 10 Kg being on the diet, it went back to normal. The nurse checking the my blood test couldn't believe her eyes...

Anyway, NOW I am 108 Kg. Let's face it: with this weight gaining tendency, if I do not go back to normal weight and exercise regularly, I have a good chance to die in the next 20 years.

So I start Atkins and I am very committed this time. I do not care about steep weight loss curve, or daily fluctuations. I follow the diet by the letter. I know Atkins is not only about low carb. Eventually shifting the ratio to proteins, you eat less. Thats the basic fact. But to be able do that, you have to have the carbs under 20g and that is what I plan to do.

My goal of 75 Kgs is ambitious. That weight is suitable to run properly. With that weight there is a chance to stay normal and not drift away anymore. Life is short. Why not live it?
