Revaudrey's Journal, 10 September 2014

I am working on a new project called "The Wellness Challenge" and am doing a 2 week cleanse that consists of eating whole foods, no sugar, no wheat or grains of any kind ( rice, pasta, quinoa, etc) and no dairy.
I know already that I am going to a dinner on Sunday where there will be pizza and salad... not sure how to manage that. I could bring my own food, I guess.
Basically, the challenge is to go with foods that are anti-inflammatory: meat, veggies and some fruits.

Also, thanks to the WellnessMama podcast, I have a new "check list" that I review each day for balance (I've tweaked it a bit.) The checklist that I heard on the podcast includes "DRESS": Diet, Rest, Exercise, Stress-reduction and Supplements. I have modified it to include: DRESS: Diet, Rest, Exercise, Spirit and Study. Each day I ask: "Am I eating a diet to support healthy living? Am I getting enough Rest? Exercise? Have I done something to feed my soul and boost my spirit? (prayer, cooking, playing the cello) and Have I learned something? (Study. Right now I am reading James Joyce's Ulysses...)
It's a new framework that aims for a balanced, joyful life. And isn't that what it's all about?
