mononucleosis's Journal, 28 August 2014

Have been eating healthy since November of last year. I have lost to date 60 lbs. I have 50 more to go. I have hit a plateau and thought if I joined this site it would keep me on track and not to "splurge" since my weight isn't coming off like it did. I'm not in any hurry. I know it's going to take a while. It's taken 9 mos. to get this off. I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I am a type 2 diabetic and have been following a low-carb diet. I'm proud of what I have accomplished but need to figure out what happened all of a sudden. I had a steroid injection today for my back and they make you hungry and you want to eat the house!!!! Only lasts for a few days but I can put away some serious food in that length of time!!! So here goes with this site. Only 50 more lbs. That's a whole lot less than when I started. Get thee behind me Satan and take all the chocolate with you!!!!!! Mononucleosis?? I'm a nurse. Who would have thunk!!!!!!

When I plateaued (not a diabetic) I found that three things really made the difference. 1.) I logged everything I ate whether it embarrassed me or not. 2.) I weighed myself every morning before I ate or drank anything. 3.) I weighed all my foods. Unless there's no way of avoiding measuring it, it was weighed. Do those to start with. The weighing of all the food particularly was a really eye opener. People in the medical profession are still humans. I'm always amazed by the level of obesity among them and how many are smokers and drinkers.
