Free Kindle book of the day:

Granola by Jonathan Doue

"Granola is typically a mixture of oats, nuts or dried fruits bound together with honey and oil, then baked. It can be baked in clumps for a looser granola cereal or pressed together to make bars. Store-bought granola can be filled with artificial ingredients and preservatives. By making it at home, you can control both the types of ingredients and their quality.

"Did You Know?

"Granola may reduce your risk for iron-deficiency anemia because oats are naturally high in iron.

"Granola may help you maintain a healthy weight or lose weight, which can reduce your risk for obesity-related chronic diseases such as heart disease or diabetes.

"Granola is healthy because it provides dietary fiber, which comes from plant foods such as fruit, vegetables, beans and whole grains.

"Take a peek at a few of the recipes inside!

"Acai Banana Granola Bowl
Fig Almond Granola Bowl
Pomegranate Granola Bowl
Ginger Peach Granola Bar
Cinnamon Dates Granola Bar
Coconut Mango Granola Bar"

Sometimes I shop at Amazon. Did you sign up for AmazonSmile? Amazon will donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the charity of your choice. My grandmother (RIP) had Alzheimer's Disease, so I chose Alzheimer's Association - National. They get part of my purchase price when I buy something. :)

Deb, how many items have you run into that are NOT eligible? I am looking at some stuff (I just signed up for smile) and none of them indicate that they are included.

Debbie, all my purchases go through AmazonSmile, supporting the Nature Conservancy. Eddie, you can get a browser plug-in that will redirect your Amazon page to the AmazonSmile page for the purchase you want to make (Smile Always for Chrome and Smile Redirect for Firefox are two).

I have that plug in for Chrome so do I then assume that everything I see when at smile.amazon is eligible? Mine goes to the Cleveland APL, also the beneficiary named in my will. They gave me some of the best friends I ever had. I can pay them back that way.

Just bookmark the page I guess. Every time I look at something at amazon, I get a popup message do I want to go to the Smile page to continue. I click yes.

I don't think I know what I am looking for. Does every item that is eligible have some kind of notation that says it is?

If a product is on a smile.amazon.com page, it's eligible.

When you are at amazon, look at the browser. It should say smile.amazon.com and then you know that you are in there. If it just says amazon.com you are not there. :)

It does say that Deb and shows my charity. I just thought I would see a "Smile eligible" icon of some kind of an item was in the program. But what you said clears it up. Not that I order THAT much from Amazon....

I don't order that often either. I have a wish list but never use it much. I want to get a charger for my kindle for when I go on vacation next summer. I thought I could go buy it now, but I could buy it six months from now. I connect my kindle to my computer to charge it at home. On vacation I wouldn't be able to do that.

I need more workout outfits and I buy them there. Right now I have a red, a black and a blue, so on any given night I can look like a big tomato, a big lump of coal, or a big blueberry popsicle. I want a navy blue, a gray, a yellow and a white. That will give me a clean compression suit for every day and I don't have to be washing them so often. You can't dry this stuff so on wash day my basement looks like a Dick's Sporting Goods store. I look there for books a lot too because you can find them used. And the occasional jar of PB2 and small stuff like that. I used that stuff for a while but I don't miss the peanut butter flavor at all so I stopped buying it.

And another thread makes me add a vegetable steamer and a food scale to my list.
