Went to Grand Rapids this afternoon with GoodMan as he had a melanoma removed from his arm. Afterward we went out to dinner. I was not able to plan my meal ahead because we didn't know where we were going to eat. We ended up at a steakhouse...actually GoodMan asked where I can eat and I told him this is a lifestyle change. I have to be able to find something to eat no matter where we go. I ordered a 6 ounce sirloin with a sweet potato (no butter) and broccoli. The only splurge was a small dinner roll and 2 bites of his ice cream dessert. Not perfect, but under control...which is a grand improvement! We'll see what the scale says.

Yes Newkim, I do appreciate the support from GoodMan. He has wanted to be "mututally supportive" for years. In the past I would make meals to fit our meal plan and he would regularly "splurge". I would make fish (not something I would have considered if not for making healthy eating choices) to have on the table when he got home from work and he'd tell me he stopped at Wendy's for a "splurge" frosty on his way home. It drove me crazy...lol!! Why was I doing all this if he wasn't really committed?! This time I finally decided to let him make his lifestyle change however it suits him...and I'll do the same for me. Just because he "splurges" doesn't mean I have to...so last night when he ordered dessert I was able to try just a taste and not feel irritated that he went off MY meal plan...because he was staying true to HIS. {2nd marriage for both of us and we've been married over 30 years...we ought to be getting it right by now...lol!)

Great job on "finding something no matter where you go", I need to think more like you! I have been terrified of going out to eat!

Love your attitude and your response to GoodMan that you can eat anywhere! We've always enjoyed eating out and it's been kind of fun taking a different way of eating and adapting it to eating out. Seems that most restaurants are really willing to make changes in menu items if you ask. Well done on your nice dinner out! It sounds delicious.
