I'm back from a 3 day Quilter's Retreat! It was a great time to get to know some new ladies with a common interest AND to completely test my resolve to lose weight and be healthy! The cooks for this camp were testing recipes for desserts. What that meant for us ladies is that there was limitless desserts, not moderated by what they thought would be consumed since they were testing recipes. There were home made donuts, cheese cakes, cookies, cookie-like dips, smores in a pot, chocolate toppings, caramels, fancy chex mixes, etc... OMG it was like being in the temptation room on the Biggest Loser!

I totally made it through. I tracked every bite, every calorie. I said no to the greasy foods, no to the sugar packed desserts, and stayed true to the vegetables and healthy options. If I had not been focused, I thought about the bites I wanted to take, the desserts I would have normally eaten - it would have been a 4000 calorie day, easily. Instead, I did better, I feel better, and I'm very proud of myself for being STRONG!

The scale said I'd be a pound lighter this week. Tuesday is my official weigh in, so we'll se how things go tomorrow. I half expected a slight gain after the first week of aggressive cleansing. Any loss is welcome this week!

I keep thinking about quilting. Well, sewing little squares at least. Then someday having the ambition to put the stuff together. Do you have a website where you post your art?

I don't have a site that I post my quilts up to. At one time I tried blogging... after a few days of rambling, I decided that writing is not my thing. The great thing about quilting/sewing for me is that it's a functional outlet for creativity. I like that I get to play with colors and it serves a purpose. Not that paintings and statues don't serve a purpose, but to me, they are less functional in a personal needs category.

True - the only way to stay warm with my paintings is to burn them...
