Ms Elizabeth's Journal, 18 August 2014

4 Days to go! I think it was actually a blessing this little one hasn't made his appearance yet. My sister-in-law decided to take her sick child to daycare last Thursday. She pumped her full of tylenol to bring down the fever and dropped her off. 4 hours later with a 102 fever, runny nose, glassy eyed kid.. the sitter called her back. Since then everyone has gotten sick. The sitter, little man, the other two little girls she watches, and of course.. me. Nothing better than being due any day and feel like crap. Can't sleep because I can't breath and I have to pee every 10 minutes.. that's if I don't cough so hard that I don't peesquirt. Yes I said it! Peesquirt peesquirt peesquirt! There is a 10 lb bowling ball compressing my bladder.. and I'm coughing up a lung. Things happen. Oh and can't eat because the kid is also pressing on my stomach which also.. hates coughing. Soo... anyways.. enough whining.. and cursing. I did enough of that on the bathroom floor at 3am Saturday night.

Just for the record. Mowing the lawn, milking cows, carrying 5 gallon pails of milk, cleaning the bathroom, finally packing my hospital bag, and still.. nada. No contractions. No nothing. Just a very active little boy that appears to be attempting to break his way out. He has some serious muscle. I'm still expecting a beard on his arrival. I don't care what the ultrasounds said.

Now I need opinions.. if you're husbands brother who you only see maybe once every 2-3 years has an 11 yr old son with the name Logan. Are you no longer allowed to use the name? I also like Jason which hubby came up with then conveniently forgot he liked. *smacking head*

Another need of opinion.. if you're due in 5 days and your husband spends 3 hours mowing down hay to be baled on Tuesday.. that means 1 day cutting, 1 day flipping and raking, and the next day baling.. and he says.. just wait till Wednesday. It's suppose to rain then. Are you allowed to cause him physical harm? I think he just jinxed me. The kids listen to him. They don't listen to me.

EDIT: I've got it! This baby is our um.. souvenir from an attempted road trip to Illinois. We got as far as Buffalo NY when hubbies universal joint went out on his truck. Resulting in alot of cursing, me yelling just pull over already!, and a hotel stay in West Seneca's Country Inn and Suites.. on Slade Ave. The kids loved it. Nice hotel, pool, and a never ending supply of cookies! So we should name the baby Slade! hehehe.. sent hubby a text with the suggestion.. um.. an hour ago. I don't think he's going to go for it.

Since the name Logan is already taken I wouldn't call my kid that. Jason is a great name but you do what you think is right. Your husband was probably only kidding.

Love it !! I am sorry that you are sick :( IMO, if it were me I wouldn't worry to much about who else has the same name, because this is your family. Also, I think I might strangle him a bit. Whatever you decide to do, will be just right. Hope you get to feeling better soon. ((HUGS))

Poor you, totally beaten up! I hope you get well soon and same with little man. Jason is a good name...I'd stay away from Logan. As for the hay, the hubbie is on his own but I hope it does get baled before the rain. Your luck anyway will be to go over due by a week....sorry!

I like Logan but I am always of the mindset to not repeat names in the family. My husband has like 5 joeys 3 of which are the same last name and it drives me nuts. Jason is nice too! I'll be checking my phone for you labor news! Can't believe all your hard work isn't moving things along faster!

wow hunny I feel for ya! I've been sick with a horrible cough at the end of a pregnancy before. It's painful!! and oh so tiring. I've not given the name I wanted to my child because a near relative that I didn't see very often had just given the name to their child. I've been sorry I didn't go ahead and use the name. I wanted it for a reason...it was right for us. However, both names are great ones and you know your family so I'm sure whatever you are feeling deep down is the right thing to do is truly the right way to go. don't kill hubby, he needs to be around to raise your family ;) I'm sure I would be contemplating his demise at this point if I were in your place lol ;D Babies come when they need to but I'm so glad he wasn't out here to get sick with the rest of you. What sis-in-law did was so wrong! I hope she has learned not to treat her child and others that way again. You seem like a great chick! It will come together and you'll be cuddling that sweet boy in no time. Drink some tea, get some rest as best you can. ((big hug)) sweetie!!

If you like the name Logan use it, there are probably hundreds of kids with the name that isn't related, so why let that stop you? You seem to be the kid of person that flows against the stream, so why stop now.

I wouldn't do the same name (for a boy)! We have it in my family but it's because mine and my sister's sons are named after our deceased father. My husband even took a stand like that with our daughter's name . ... . I argued that she'll change her last name when she gets married, and it was a more distant cousin but same last name; oh well..... hang in there!!!! thanks for the smiles and laughs!

Typically, cousins only have the same name if it is a family name. Just my input for Logan. As for Jason, this is the name of my new nephew (due in January). My BIL and SIL are planning to call him Jase for short--really love it! So sorry you've been sick! Definitely not what you want right at the end of your pregnancy--life's tough enough right now! With my first one, I got sick at 7 months and went into labor because I coughed so hard, the membranes tore, and I "sprung a leak". Spent the next 4 weeks in hospital before delivering at 35 weeks. Hoping you feel better quick and that baby comes Tuesday evening just to spite your Hubby, lol!

I think Logan is a great name - one of my grands is Charles Logan (Charles after my dad)...and I named my oldest Christopher Jason. I don't think it's that big a deal naming two kids in the same extended family the same name. These days, with lots of second marriages that happens with step-children fairly often. My friend has two grand doubles - two Emma's and two Lilly's. My mother has grandchildren named: Ayden, Hayden, and Brayden...Molly Grace, Emma Grace, and Savannah Grace, as well as a Mia and a Maya...I don't think it's a big deal unless the family is drama-prone.

I like both names, though am a little partial more to the name Jason (that's DH's name :) ) I agree with Hipaagrammy that duplicate names may not be so bad. I came from a family with 3 generations of Als and Mikes all over the place, it usually doesn't cause too much confusion though.

(My brother is not a true junior since his name is Albrecht, not Albert like our dad and grandpa. However, since Grandpa Al died things are a bit simpler in that regard. As for the Mikes, one of my uncles, a first cousin, my MIL's husband, and my brother in law are all Michaels/ Mikes. They are spread pretty far over the US, so again it is usually clear which Mike is the Mike du jour of conversation.)

Just as long as your husband don't agree to call him " a boy named Sue"...LOL All kidding aside, Jason is a grand name, although you could call him Jason Logan! and everyone wins...

OMG you're so funny! A beard....PAHAHAHA! Logan is fine, although I assume the boys will have the same last name as well. Just make sure they have different middle names! lol

In my husband's family almost all first sons had the same first and middle name. It was a family tradition. Which meant my father-in-law and one of his nephews who used the same bank often had their accounts confused by the bank.

You learn to cope with it if you are not used to anything else

We came up with a name for our oldest son, he was born, we looked at him and ended up naming him after my grandfather instead, who had four girls so never got his own namesake. He was deliriously happy to have a grandson with his name, was diagnosed with end stage cancer days later (seemed totally healthy) and died before his namesake turned 3 months old. Which made it all the more special and right feeling that we were able to give him that gift. After that we decided to just have name ideas and wait for baby to decide for sure what to name them. If you really aren't feeling a specific name, there's no harm in waiting til you meet baby =)
