starchild72766's Journal, 17 August 2014

Very pleased. On Sundays, I'm normally seriously tempted to heavily hit on the chocolate goodies after Mass at 9 am (known as the 8th sacrament.) Had decaf coffee and three nibbles of cheese instead. I spent most of my time talking and socializing with fellow parishioners.

This is a small, but important, victory. Did have oatmeal with raisins and almonds this morning to keep the hunger beast at bay before we went to church. Will probably continue doing that in the future. Have had to take 2-3 units on insulin w/ metformin for meals to keep my BS numbers down. Am fighting off a series of sinus infections, which causes sugar spikes as an inflammatory response. Hoping for good numbers for my next check-up on Tuesday morning. They did a metabolic screen last Monday, with an A1C, creatine, albumen, and cholesterol level tests. My physician is concerned about my creatine levels and kidney functioning. Being a diabetic really demands balancing meds with weight loss efforts. If I can lose another 50 lbs, I may be able to go off meds altogether.

I know what an important victory that is. There are always treats after my church's services as well and I am one of the few that avoids them. Good job! Sorry about your infections messing with your blood sugars.

I too have a high creatinine level, but one thing that was brought to my attention is you can't exercise within 48 hours of the test as it will affect the outcome. Redoing my test in a couple of weeks.

Wow! Never knew about the creatine level thing. If it's too high, I could take it again. I'm really a major "gym rat." Will ask about it when i see the doc tomorrow.
