gingin40's Journal, 15 August 2014

Yesterday I ate 38% over my RDI and I am not upset about it. The reason is that I spent a great day with a person I love and respect: my aunt. We had so much fun that while I stayed on track on how much I was eating; there were moments where I had to take a chance on eating something high calorie because it was the only food option. It was only one day that I would eat like that (we went to a couple of fast food places and I am trying to cut back on fast food) and I wanted to keep everything light and carefree. By the way, the caramel sundae we had for dessert was so good! But I will admit that I am actually happy that I walked yesterday or I would really feel guilty about eating so much.

Today I am back to my same, comfortable routine. Sometimes I will stop and think “I actually want to exercise?” The funny thing is I enjoy exercising every day. One of the pluses of constant exercise is that I am less exhausted at the end of the walk than I used to be. Hooray!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

You know, I have a friend who was a fitness/nutrition major in college. He's easily the most "fit" person I've ever met and he told me that every 10 days of healthy eating your body needs a high-calorie day. Obviously, don't go crazy with it, but I've been doing it the last 3 months and it hasn't affected me negatively...sometimes your body needs a jumpstart and your mind needs a day to indulge :) Good job! No guilt!

With junk food it's not hard to go over your RDI. Just don't make it a habit and you'll be OK. It's good that you exercise everyday. You will lose weight so much faster this way. Have a great day :-)

Yep, I agree with that. Perfection doesn't exist. Can't be perfect all of the time. It's just a matter of knowing when to stop before being sent in a whirlwind of non stop eating. I think if it's planned, and not triggered by emotions,(anxiety, sadness, anger etc) an indulgence will do no harm.
