SherrieC's Journal, 29 July 2014

The Ice cream is GONE, again. I know what it has done to me and I am not beating myself up over it, because it was my choice to put it in my mouth. So, on to bigger and better things. I do have to say, I think I did better with cookies than I have with the ice cream. I just sat and sat watching TV last night with the damn carton in my hand, (trying to get it to melt faster)and as it got softer, the bites tasted better and better. Before I knew it I was at the bottom of the carton. Anyway, it is gone and today is new and I am feeling really positive.

I do have a plan for today, but I will not say it out loud until after it is done, in hopes of it actually happening. You know, it is funny (to me)that as I read your journals, I can see that somehow most of us hit the up arrow around the same time, so maybe there is just something in the air that makes us eat more at certain times. A little strange I know, well I am off to get the day going. I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed day !!!!!!

Hi Sherrie, been there done that; however mine was UTZ potato chips the family size bag. Forgetting what happened in the past, press on for the prize of the high calling in Jesus which is healthy living and freedom from this addiction for us. I'm trusting, believing and praying for all of us. Be blessed.

You know yourself well, so since the ice cream posed such a risk for your willpower, guess you better not buy any more. Best of luck hitting restart. We're here for you. I always have ice cream around, but I eat a half-cup about every other day and I work it into my RDI. Cookies, I'm alright around. Farm stand homemade donuts, on the other hand...bought a half dozen yesterday. Ate one last night and most of one for breakfast this morning (along with a hard-boiled egg). I'm done now. Thank the Lord!

Man I empathize. If I carry a container out of the kitchen, it's done for. And if I eat mindlessly, it's done for. So as Thomas Edison said, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." Is there another food that would work in place of the ice cream? Or can you really MAKE yourself put a single serving in a bowl and leave the kitchen? Or, does it have to be completely off limits? I know each of us is different in what works for us.

The sad think is I used to do that Vickie, put it in a bowl and that was enough for me, but for some reason the ice cream has been so hard to scoop out I just cave. Thank You everyone for your posts and keeping me in check, I think that is why I am so honest with you about what I am doing.

Someone above suggested the smaller containers. Yeah, they're expensive, but if they keep you from diving in, go for it. Or get a Pamper Chef scooper which glides through ice cream.

I have started adding flaxseed to a small serving of ice cream when I do let myself eat it. :)

Also add chia. I put both in my yogurt. 1 TBS of each.
