Absynthia's Journal, 21 July 2014

This past 2 weeks have been so stressful at work and I've come in on my days off, worked a lot of nights and 10-11 hour shifts (one night until 2am) and I'm about to call mercy. My bf, my sister and I had a nice meal planned for last night when I got home at 6:30-7ish, and I was going to make my tomato pie as my contribution (almond flour/parmesan crust) but I ended up having to stay until after 8pm and was exhausted and way over stressed again and had to cancel. When I got home, my bf said "I'm taking you out and you're having a margarita!" LOL I didn't put up much of a fight. I had fajitas with no tortillas, a salad with guacamole, a few bites of chile relleno. No chips. But I also had a big margarita full of sugar, I'm sure. I think it will be ok and I sure felt a lot better afterwards, so it was worth it. But my weight is up 2 lbs this morning. It may just be fluid retention from all the sodium so I'm not going to let that add to my stress.

Edited. I know better than to be talking about work in a public forum. :(

You are right, your coworkers didn't do their job because they hope you will do it for them. They think you are a pushover. You deserve some rest, piece and quiet.

You definitely deserved that margarita! And the sodium is definitely the cause of the weight gain, so don't stress over that. I assume you are the manager of the store? I've heard from lots of people that management sucks, as no one else takes responsibility for anything. What a total DRAG!!

You sound a lot like me. I hate for things to not get done right and I don't give people the chance to improve when I see things getting done in a shoddy manner. I just do it myself, which only leads to me having to do it into the foreseeable future. I try to delegate, but as you've discovered, then you spend all your time following people around and handing down comments that are not welcome by most employees. I was obviously not meant to be a manager, lol. I hope you can find the best way out of this situation.
