Kathy Vanish's Journal, 17 July 2014

I slipped into some old meat eating habits last week and didn't journal everyday. Weight is up, and I only have me to blame. Like I said in my last journal, the wagon is dragging me. Since my bum is starting to hurt, I think I need to get back in the wagon. Today, I am going to do a veggie/fruit day and flush the bad stuff out. I went for a 4 mile run this morning and it felt good to get in a good workout and the weather was beautiful. I hope I can keep the peace it gave me throughout the day with the stress I know is coming this morning with my business. Can all my buddies do something for me today? Smile! If we have to have lines when we get older, let's make them smile lines.

Do you find that eating medium or large portions of meat tend to "drag you down" or make your intestines feel heavy? I had two fair sized portions of ground beef yesterday and I could sense that heaviness. I have not had a steak in a LONG time and I am growing to love fish and chicken instead. The fruit-veggie day is a WONDERFUL idea. Have fun! Oh. And SMILE. He-he-he-he-he!

Smiling like a Cheshire cat :) I can eat vegs and fruit all day and won't miss the protein but if i do i take cottage cheese or tuna, a nice piece of chicken breast or even a fresh grassfed steak fillet (if i make it to the butcher's round the corner)!

Teacher Try it depends on what type of meat, how it's cooked, and what time of the month I am in. Red meat makes me feel heavy if it is really greasy, but if I grill it is not too bad. I like chicken too, but fish is not my cup of tea. I will occasionally eat tuna fish salad, but tend to have too much mayo so I don't do that often.

It's so hard to get back to good eating when you slip up, but you can do it! I'm working on it too. Glad you got your run in today, it will help with the rest of the stresses the day brings. I am smiling!! :)

I suppose I should clarify my definition of "fish." I am talking "Long John Silver's, and Mrs. Paul's Fish sticks." He-he-he-he-he-he! I am SO not a genuine fish eater.
