Instantcrazy's Journal, 11 July 2014

I'm supposed to be eating 1200 calories a day. If I combine the last 3 days calories I'm missing a day. This is very unusual for me. I don't normally have this kind of self control. Tomorrow is weigh in day for me. I'm not sure what a calorie deficit is going to do to the scale. I am craving a pb&j, but that would put me about 100 over on calories. The other strange this is I haven't been craving sugar. I haven't had a soda or chocolate for over a week. Someone at work even offered me m&ms tonight and I turned it down. WHO AM I AND WHAT HAVE I DONE WITH ME?

Off to go get some quality time with my hula hoop.

The calorie thing will even out in time. Turning down chocolate is a superb NSV.

Try just all natural peanut butter, no palm oil (hard to find but Smuckers is one) on whole grain bread or some sort of whole grain flat bread and no jelly, maybe a few berries or banana slices. We have had the same kind of eating week; I didn't worry about 2 tiny cheese cake pieces, I figure they equaled one piece yesterday. Cheese cake I will cheat for 😋

Do you eat lots of fruit? I have used fruit to replace sweets and I find that I do not crave sweets now. Sometimes I eat TOO MUCH fruit and I have to work on eating smaller portions but not craving candy and ice cream is certainly nice.

I was just thinking, I haven't had chocolate since I started my diet weeks ago. And I walked by the giant chocolate bars at the market and did not want to get a caramel Cadbury . Joy!!!!!

Good for you, giving up soda and chocolate for a week! I stopped drinking soda 6 months ago and don't even miss it. I gave up the sugar free chocolate 2 months ago, but I am sure chocolate might be around in my future as a special treat, just not an every day item.

Thanks everyone! I have upped my fruit lately with cherries. I love cherries. Other than that I haven't really been a big fruit eater. I prefer veggies. I do have some peanut butter that is strictly peanuts, but last time I had some my fat was off the chart. Of course that was the week I lost 5 lbs too. I like pb and banana or pb and honey. Good job Applecheeks! Well done Deb! 6 months is amazing!

Don't you just feel better?! I gave up diet coke which was what I mainly drank for years. Felt better. I still love my chocolate, which is really good for you without the sugar. Foods with sugar are too sweet to me now as well. I substitute now. I mix half a cup of non fat yogurt, half a cup of frozen mixed berries, and a teaspoon of baking chocolate powder - that is how I have my chocolate, protein, antioxidents, fiber, and nutrients in a cup! :). It works for me! So the chocolate in the stores don't even tempt me now. But come Christmas I fully intend to have Cello's chocolate covered cherries!

@Instantcrazy, have you tried PB2 instead of peanut butter? It is peanut powder that is 85% fat free. You mix it with water or whatever you want. @kattay, thanks for sharing your chocolate yogurt recipe. I will have to try that!

You are welcome Deb. Some people may like it sweeter with more berries and/or honey. I can't get PB2 around here(I like peanut butter too much) Not in any of the stores so I went online, had to buy in bulk. Didn't need that :)! One day maybe the local stores will stock it.

What I do when I can't find a product is to take the phone book and call every store in my city asking if they have it. They don't, but they ask their distributor and when a distributor gets several stores asking for the same product, they think it's hot and will start getting it. Keep looking and asking when you go to the store. :)

Deb. I'll try that, but since there are only three stores in town don't know if it'll work but how long does it take to call three stores. If I think about it there's probably a whole list of things I've looked for in last couple years can't find.

Kattay try ordering it on Amazon or vitacost. You do have to get two jars as a min order but IMO it was worth it. I havent mixed with water but do use it in smoothies and frozen banana ice cream a lot.

I live in a more rural area. There are two Food Lions (about ten miles apart)and a Wal-mart. I keep looking. When I asked about it in both stores, they looked at me like I was an alien, I mean a flying saucer alien! Just about the same look I would get when I use to ask for organic produce. Now, Walmart has some organic produce, but not much. So, I'll keep draining the oil out of Smucker's Natural peanut butter! Some one said that peanut oil is good for you, which is true, but at 119 cals per tablespoon, it doesn't fit into my calorie budget.

Thank you Vickie. I will look into that.

Kattay, I'm in same boat. I live 60 miles from closest grocery store and I've had same look. I always think their the ones not from this world cause the things I ask for aren't that unknown. It truly sucks when you're craving something and you can't get one of the main ingredients. I can't even get wonton wrappers out here.

Sugar free? Fantastic!!! Your body is going through the "sugar flu." Hang in there, and that too shall pass. Love on the New You, you deserve it.

I only use a teaspoon of the smuckers on a slice of my homemade bread. It's a good fat as long as not mixed with palm oil, which I understand chemically does something to convert it to a bad one.

Definitely understand that look of confusion. I get that a lot. I'm always looking for unusual ingredients. Living in a relatively large metro area I'm lucky that I can go hunting all types of stores. Though the larger stores that I would love to have closer are on the opposite side of town 30-40 miles away. Whole Foods, Trader Joes, and there s a large oriental supermarket. Ikea in the fall. They might not give me that look, but that's a special trip.
