I have been hit with the dreaded constipation :( it was so bad yesterday that I couldn't walk. 3 doses of liver salts later and I'm almost 3lbs lighter but STILL blocked up. now time for some self shaming... wanna know what cause this painful hell? Malteasers(18 packets to be exact) and an energy drink called Red Thunder(basically red bull, I had 12) so this was all in the space of 3-4 days and now I'm paying the price. bedbound and howling in pain. any tips would be very helpful. I don't have any prunes and getting them is next to impossible. I've been drinking loads of water, eating pears(I read that helps) also eating Clementines. gonna get some high fiber bread right now. I don't deserve help for being an idiot but it would be appreciated

if it is that bad filling it up from above with fiber is not gonna make it better, ask for enema at doktor! make sure it is what you think it is, this can cause appendicitis.

I don't really have any advice but I can offer sympathy as I too struggle with constipation. It's the absolute worst! Hopefully things get moving for you soon.

I'm with puhpine, that much pain is doctor time. A mild laxative might help if the extra fiber isn't helping. Have you tried drinking mint tea? In the future, try to incorporate berries into your diet. They do help. 1/2 cup won't hurt a low carb diet.

Totally agree with the prior posters re: doctor time and adding fiber after the fact. Self shaming won't do any good either ;-( Get thru THIS bout - then commit yourself to not doing this again. Part of it is not eating the things that cause it, the other part is eating the things that help prevent it. I agree that berries are helpful. I eat edamame a few times a week as well. Personally I shoot for at least 25g/day of fiber. Hope you're feeling better quickly!
