Kathy Vanish's Journal, 21 June 2014

Hey buds!

I haven't had a chance to journal lately so I thought I would bring everyone up to date on my journey.

I went to the doctor and found that everything is okay; however, my LDL's were a bit above optimal and he told me to start watching my fats and I was Vitamin D deficient. I am now taking a Vitamin D supplement and started watching my saturated fat intake. I didn't realize how much fat I was consuming. I noticed that by focusing on low fat has now dropped my calories from 1500-1800 to under 1000 on some days. I don't feel hungry and have lost weight.

I have also beat the steep hill on my morning run. I am now running up both sides and running 3.7 miles straight at least 4 days a week. I signed up for my second 5K on July 3rd. I am traveling quite a bit for work but I still think I can beat my time from my first 5K of 39 mins 18secs. My ultimate goal though is to run the entire race.

I am still taking a zumba class once a week and have started swimming everyday for at least 45 mins to an hour with my daughter.

You guys are all doing great! Keep up the good work! I wish you all the luck in the world. Thanks for your support!

That's great progress with your running routine and i am envious of your swimming. What a great total body workout. You will make it all the way in the 5k!

Woohoo Kathy! so much good news to share :) Once you've started running, nothing will stop you and i can feel such determination coming across! Take some good music to pump you when you feel you can't take it and want to resort to walking, believe me, there is no stopping your legs moving to good music!

I would but run on a country back road and don't want anything to distract me if a car would come flying down the road. The teenagers don't think a speed limit exists. Instead I sing to myself. On the one side it's "I think I can, I think I can.....I thought I could, Whohoo from the little engine that could and on the uphill on the other side it's "Climb every mountain" from the sound of music.
