Kiki8123's Journal, 09 June 2014

I had to take my kitty to the emergency vet yesterday as she somehow got a huge gash in her back leg. It was so bad we could see her bone. So, they put her under, stitched up the wound, and she now has a drainage tube in her leg. She won't keep the head cone on and thrashes about to get it off, she barely slept last night, which means I barely slep last night. I have to go to work today so am hopeful she is drugged up enough to leave her wound alone. She is grounded indoors for the next two weeks, per vets orders. The dogs have to be locked away from her. Oh - and this cost a small fortune. Ahhhhh!!! Wish us luck. Finally, this means no gym after work since I'll be too worried about getting home to check on her. Happy Monday to me.

So sorry to hear bout your kitty. Pets are so important to us, and also so costly when they need medical attention. What a rough start to the week, try to take in in stride and just do the best you can. It will pass, I hope she heals up quickly and no complications.

Best of luck. Do you know how she did it to herself. My cat is an indoor one. Close she ever get is being in her carrier when she needs to go somewhere.

Thank you, both! We think it may have happened on a metal fence in the backyard as we found her breakaway collar there. She is indoor/outdoor cat as there'd be no way to keep her from going outside thru the doggie door. The dogs are more attached to my husband - but this cat (just over a year old) is "mine" and I've really become attached to her. I think I'll be fine without exercising tonight as I still have the blisters on my greet from Saturdays walk and did a lot of major gardening yesterday. Thanks again for the support!

Poor Maggie! So glad to hear that she will be ok, though! I would rush right home after work too, so no worries about not going to the gym. Hopefully your feet get better soon so that we can plan our next walk.

Blisters are healing. Maggie is going okay - just drugged and laying around, which is good. Drain comes out in a couple of days. Stitches out in about 10-15. After checking on Maggie, played some badminton outside with hubby. I finally beat him a game! Fun exercise!
