Trying not to beat myself up for gaining some weight. It sure seems like a lot, but everyone is telling me that it's superficial. I started the nuvaring about a month ago and I was warned that I would gain weight, but I don't believe in excuses. I could have kept it off.

Some of the foods that made me gain weight were pasta, especially macaroni & cheese, potato chips, potato crisps, tortilla chips and croutons. I wanted to eat these foods every day. I bought healthy versions of them (whole wheat pasta, baked chips or baked crisps, low fat, etc) then reduced my portion size on those. When I was ready, I finally stopped them. I am not afraid to eat them, just don't crave them any more. If I have a party coming up, I might have a few, but not a whole serving of them or a binge. I want to get to my goal weight!

What is a diet? It is not restricting this or that, it is not about eating this and not that, it is a lifestyle. And eating healthy is all about an attitude towards food. I am called a flexitarian...apparently. That is a vegetarian that is permitted a little bit of meat every week. But I have to eat responsibly! Now comes the crux of the matter. Physical exercise! There is not a human being on the planet that can't benefit from exercise coupled with a healthy diet. So again, what is diet. It is all about giving your body the nutrients it needs to perform at its peak. Conventional diets and exercise don't work because you are restricting the input of essential nutrients that your body desperately needs. No wonder so many people fail at there attempts to lose weight! There is no getting around the truth. The healthy "Lifestyle" is the road that must be taken if you're going to reach your goal.

Or burn more than you take in, being concious of what we are doing and taking the credit or discredit, if the case may be, of what we are doing to ourselves.

Thanks for the thoughtful responses, everyone. I agree that I need less processed carb, more exercise, and mindfulness in my life. It's so hard right now, with this new medication, and a lot of stress from moving. Who do I have it all? Got to stay positive.

Meds can cause weight gain just need to find a happy medium as to what works and what doesn't. Body needs to adjust with the meds or ask to try something different. So you will be able to start to lose weight. Good luck and God Bless. :)
