I told my husband today that I broke through to my half-way point. His response?

Hubby: So, how much have you lost?
Me: 32 lbs.
Hubby: And you think you are going to lose 32 more?????
Me: Yes, that's the plan.

Then he just gave me that look ... like I was out of my ever loving mind!! Bless his heart ... he thinks I'm skinny now. How blessed am I to have a husband that thinks I'm skinny at 206 lbs!!! Of course, that doesn't change my goal. I've been 175 before and I think that is a reasonable weight for me. I am confident that my body will level out where it is comfortable maintaining and I will know it. If I only get down to 185 or 180 that would be okay too but I still want to work towards 175. So, I'll just be quiet about it ... and keep doing what I'm doing. I really want to be able to maintain somewhere below 200. I want 200 to be the weight that sirens go off and red lights flash that I have gone way overboard, not the weight I maintain. Am I nuts?

No you're not nuts! My hubby is the same as yours. He thinks I look fine just the way I am. I tell him he's my hubby, he's supposed to say that. He does compliment me all the time and always says that I'm doing a good job. You're doing a great job though! Keep it up!

I just talked to my best friend and she told me she thought I was a little too skinny at 175 ... she always tells me the truth so I guess we'll see when I get closer. Isn't it great to have such a wonderful hubby??? I know other women who have husbands that are always on their case .. I'm glad mine isn't like that!

No! you're not nuts. Wow, I was just looking at your profile yesterday and i noticed that you have already lost 32 pounds- thats amazing! :] i'm so happy for you I know what you girls mean, my fiance says I am fine the way I am, or he tells me that I get skinnier and skinnier every time he sees me. He doesnt want me to lose my curves, so he tells me to not worry about what I eat. I know he means well, and so do your husbands, but this isnt about them lol its about us, and us girls being happy with our own bodies. At least thats how i see it. haha

I agree with all of you. I wished my husband would comment every now and then. He doesn't seem to notice. I lost 40 pounds over 2 years ago, he did not say if he noticed or not. I gained it all back. I have come to realize I have to go it alone at home. I have to rely on friends and my self to keep motivated to get to the healthy weight I want. It is wonderful you girls have the support and reccognition at home.

I too get zip for comments from home so there are similiar spouses everywhere - husbands and wives. You're going great, keep it up for yourself! I so enjoy the refound energy level and bringing old clothes out of storage. I'm starting to remember me, the average weight guy who liked himself.

Hey all...comments from home are almost impossible. My wife sees me EVERYDAY and even if I'm losing quickly I am not making changes that are going to be noticed on a daily basis. Her image of my body is reset everyday. I am down 21 and unless you could feel my clothes you wouldn't notice the difference. So I wouldn't concern myself with the comments from home front. On the other hand I also have first hand experience with the "you are already skinny at 210-215 thing. When I say 172 not just my wife but everyone who knows me thinks that is going to be too thin. But that is because the only ME that they KNOW is 220. People hate change. They'll fight it and subtly try to keep things just as they are. Even if they are not good....its a devil you know kind of thing. So ignore the folks who think you're nuts, keep moving toward YOUR GOAL...and it has to be YOUR GOAL...you can't be doing this for a spouse or friend or for compliments. In the past I always lost weight cause my wife wanted me to...guess how long that lasted??? This one is for ME.

Absolutely Jim ... you are right on. This has to be for US. And, while it is lovely to hear compliments and have someone notice it sometimes can be a curse as well. Thank GOODNESS ... the same man who thinks I will get "too thin" is also the man who doesn't say squat when I gain 40 or 50 lbs ... he loves ME. I am more than a "body" to him. So, for those of you who are not hearing from your loved ones ... perhaps they see the total you ... and that is a very good thing. Sometimes compliments can back-fire anyway. At least they have for me. I don't like it when someone constantly asks me ... "how much have you lost now?" So, I tend to not talk about my weight loss except here, to my mother (who is doing this with me), and on occasion, my husband. Here's to US ... and each of US doing this because WE want to ... not to gain acceptance from others, or to please others, because it feels right for US.

I am quite certain, from watching your progress, that you are one of those that will, without a doubt, reach her ideal weight.
