Just finished reading a website about the myths of fiber in our diets (its actually quite bad for us). I've heard whispers of this in the past from the caveman diet types but didn't really believe it. After all, "they" all say its so good for us. Except it does cause quite a bit of stomach upset that I never do get used to. I am inclined to believe this website - the authors argument is pretty believable to me. After all, why would something our bodies can't digest be good for us? I think this kind of goes in line with Dr. Atkins (the man, not the modern diet) theory about carbohydates. Granted, he was not at all against fiber but for fat and protein and it seems that is where the websites author was leaning.

I am a fan of the old atkins diet and had good results in the past. Recently, I tried it again for two weeks and didn't feel well the entire time. I felt poorly in the previous efforts but this was a little different. Maybe the 40 something year olds version of the "atkins flu". I can't afford atkins right now - money is too tight and meat too expensive but I think I will try to cut my carbs down a little. Telling myself that something is not off limits but I'm not going to eat it seems to keep my crazy from acting up so bad as when I say something is totally off limits and I will not eat it. The hardest part of atkins is all the cooking (for me). I am not a good cook and don't really enjoy it. Processed foods are easiest for me but not so good for my health. Dang it!

I worked out 4 days last week and am on my way to working out four days this week. I'm so proud of myself. My goal for a long time has been to get in to curves at least 3 days a week and I've struggled with that for so long. I really do hope I keep it up. I haven't lost weight (I eat like a crazy person still) but I feel like my pants are fitting looser.

I am a firm believer in everything in moderation. I need a certain amount of fiber in my diet for my (ahem) constitution, lol! I think fiber has it's place in our diet. How much we need is an individual thing. I have a sensitive stomach so I need to be careful. The information coming out changes constantly. I think it has certain benefits (just like fat in our diet). But I still have to watch what kinds of fat I eat because of a history of heart disease (there are studies that still link certain fats with causing clogging of the arteries). So I will occasionally have a bacon. I think each of us need to know our bodies and how it reacts to different foods and activity. That's why weight loss and getting healthy is a constantly changing journey.
