April 24, 2014

I like my size and weighed in at the doctor today at 207 lbs. I haven't worked since December 16, 2013. I stay at home to save money and eat out a lot because it's just me and my sixteen year old grandson at home. I don't eat burgers and fries on the regular. I eat balanced meals from restaurants, meaning meat, starch and lots of vegetables. Having asthma, I do consume a lot of peppermints daily to help my breathing. I notice my stomach gets big if I stay on the peppermints and tends go down when I lay off of them. Lately, I've been having pains in shoulders and knees with shortness of breath. I do very little exercise and gave up on the gym. I did get down to 189 lbs. So starting today is the day I have decided to start my diet to a healthier life. Cutting back on sugars.

Breakfast was only a large cup of coffee with about 6 tablespoons of sugar and two teaspoons of creamer

Dinner at 6 pm, 2 fried chicken wings, 1 small cut of fried fish, 2 tablespoons of mac& cheese and a large spoon of collards and a small piece of cornbread. 12 oz. of lemon-aid. 5 peppermints. 24 oz. of low fat sherbet orange. Last day of big fried feast.

You need to cut down on the that sugar. 6 tablespoons is a huge amount to have in coffee and not good for you. So much better to use those calories for something nutritious like eggs, fruit and toast. You can adjust your tastes. Start by cutting down to 5 tablespoons, then 4..etc. Getting protein will help even out your blood sugar levels in the morning. Sugar makes you crave more sugar. A food scale, measuring cups and spoons can help with portion control. It's about enjoying food but in moderation. Dang I just reread that. You cut down to 6 tablespoons of sugar! Wow! Well if you are cutting down, then good for you. It takes time to wean yourself off sugary foods and eat healthier ones. Good luck!
