RugratX2's Journal, 21 April 2014

So I actually lost 1.5 pounds last week but we bought a new digital scale and it shows a different weight than the old scale. When I went to the doctor to start this journey I told my husband that the doctor told me I weighed 6 pounds more than my scale showed. Then at a followup 6 weeks later, the same thing 6-7 pounds more than my scale showed.

I told my husband I wanted a digital scale to make tracking my weight easier. The scale I had been using was very consistent but I hate trying to see where the little line is! So we bought a weight watchers digital scale from Costco. Well, this new scale is also very consistent and seems to match my doctors scale. My husband also shows 6 pounds heavier on the new scale.

But it works well and obviously shows my old scale while consistent was off overall. So we decided to keep the new scale and this will put me on the same weight as the doctor's office.

So even though the old scale shows 195.5 which is a loss, I changed my weight here to reflect the new scale. I guess I get to celebrate breaking that 200 mark a second time.

It is depressing but at the same time it does not change the fact that I have lost 30 pounds since January! My clothes are looser and I fit into some things I have not worn in a long time. Still a long road to go but I can see visible progress so I take comfort in that.

Hope everyone had a great Easter weekend! I am determined to break this 200 mark (again) and continue on this journey! Best wishes to you all!

That is Awesome news on your loss !!! I guess my hubby and I should look into getting a scale for home as well.

It's also possible you're up 5lbs in muscle while your body is converting fat. If your clothes feel loser don't worry about the number.

Yeah, make the "gain" change new scale adjustment now... but you will always know that you "really" lost more due to the scale change adjustment! I changed scales a couple months ago... my weight only went up 1-2 pounds max, but I document the new scale readings only now and did NOT adjust previous readings. Every once in a while I get down because the scale isn't moving, and I like to remind myself "well, based on my ORIGINAL weight, I have really lost one more pound than my charts say!". lol Whatever works to get you through the emotional hurdles lol

Scales are all calibrated differently and you weigh something different on each one. The flooring can also effect the scale (should be a hard level surface). They should all be within a few pounds of each other. Doctors are supposed to calibrate their scales regularly and many don't. The most important thing is to pick one scale as your "official" scale and use that one to gauge your weight loss. Weigh the same time, same scale, same clothes, same everything for the most accurate gauge. I like in the morning before eating or drinking anything and after going to the bathroom. The scale will fluctuate all day long after that.

Good for you for losing so much weight. The scale thing happened to me too when we bought a new one. Up 5 pounds for me instead of 6 but still a drag. Cheers on getting to break the 200 mark a second time. Make the celebration a good one.
