FitOKay's Journal, 10 April 2014

So sorry I haven't been around. My spider bite day was immediately followed by a really bad stomach bug the boys had for more then a week (I was wondering if I had been wrong about the spider bites and it was this instead- until I got the stomach bug 4 days after the boys started with symptoms). Sick means lungs go to crap. Then my youngest has been having a lot of breathing issues also (the one who we didn't think had asthma but stopped breathing several weeks ago when we had those really bad colds that I think might have been rsv). His appointment for the pediatric pulminologist was today and it turns out he already has damage markings that are clearly visable on an xray, like those caused by severe asthma. It's even more concerning because he and his brother both have a growth disorder. So even though he's 45 months he's only the size of a 22 month old. Meaning much smaller lungs are easier to close off and damage further. His brother has been getting hormone supplement for a few years now. My youngest was suppose to start on the daily hormone shots this past year. However a MRI showed an possibly cancerous abnormality on his pituitary gland (which at least we know isn't responsible for the growth disorder since his brother has no such abnormality and their blood lab work is nearly identical).

This, of course, is all on top of finishing up school (I homeschool our oldest because he has autism and verbal learning disability along with motor delays but taught himself to read at 2 years old. Adding/subtracting at 4 and multiplications/division last summer at 5 going 6. The mix of being so advanced in some area coupled with so far behind in large and fine motor skills, emotionally and socially just didn't make public or private school our best option when I stay home and homeschooling is an option). Switching from school year to summer extra curricular and physical education classes. Then just all the normal life stuff.

On top of all that the house we rent out we are having issues with the tenants not paying rent and an unusual amount of needing to replace appliances but then when we set up replacements the tenants drop the ball and don't follow through on being there (until we give the mandated 24hr notice that we will be there, then suddenly they are there...) Their lease is up in July and I think we are going to ask them to leave and then re-evaluate placing the house back on the market (we only tried renting because the housing market sucks so bad right now to sell).

I know I should still be tracking right now, but honestly I just can't keep up with it. This is the same month last year that I fell off (at nearly the same weight lost in the first four months of the year- 9lbs) though not for the same reason. I don't want to do a repeat- regardless of the reason, but I know I will burn myself out right now if I try to add the stress in with the stress of the new treatments for my youngest (4x daily on 3 meds in nebulizer and 2x daily on one in aero chamber), plus his brothers and my meds, plus appointments, plus school, plus the house we rent out, plus the house we live in, plus everything else. So instead of allowing myself to subconsciously quit the dieting and losing weight, I'm giving myself a time limit to get life back to a dealable point.

May 3rd is my wedding anniversary. May 4th is a Sunday and the day I was planning to be weigh in day weekly instead of every day. So I am putting a reminder on my calendar to weigh in Sunday, May 4th and start tracking again Monday-Saturday May 5th.

And I'm sorry if none of that really made any sense... I'm not sure I can make sense of it right now anyways lol

See you all soon and I hope everyone is doing wonderfully. You all are amazing.

Wow Calyn, you are going through some stuff. I must say you are one fantastic mom, and a strong one at that. I admire you so much, because my best friends nephew has a form of autism and it is a struggle everyday. You just keep doing what you are doing and I am sending lots of prayers and good thoughts your way.

Thank you both. Hopefully we're able to kinda re evaluate our routines and priorities over the next month and get things back to a manageable level. We finish school for the year next month- so that alone will really help with the 'things to do' stress level ;-)

Don't worry about tracking right now Calyn, just try avoiding bad foods because that really helps the mind but don't feel bad whatever you decide to eat. Just take all the time you need and adopt those changes as enjoyably as possible. Don't forget that it's not a race :) It's not bad that our weight goes up or we take some time from it, or even if we decide to stop logging. It's just bad if we give up permanently on trying to improve ourselves eating-wise. I wish you all the best in those issues you're dealing with right now, to you and your kids! Strength to you all!

You wouldn't wish autism on anybody but you'd wish for every autistic child to have a mother like you! My daughter suffers from severe separation anxiety(from me) so we are moving back to switzerland so her kindergarten and school days are shorter. They come home for lunch there and have every afternoon off in the first year and she will cope much better knowing she can come home for lunch. Whereas here they have to stay there from 8am till 3pm everyday. We are doing counselling so that she will hopefully be free from it in a few years when her school days will be over. Thankfully I am blessed with otherwise healthy kids. I know what it's like to rearrange your whole life for your kids and just doing whatever is best for them and whatever they need!
