Tulipgirl6's Journal, 14 March 2014

My weight continues to bounce around; as long as it's bouncing in a downward direction, I guess I'm Ok with it. The current realization is, if I continue at this pace I will look just OK by summer, but to look and feel really good, I will have to strength train and really put effort into it for another six months to a year afterward. So I keep having to remind myself that I have lost about 40 pounds, and I can do it! I can continue to lose another 40. I think I should get rid of these giant clothes. Will I ever get pregnant again? Would I have another kid? This little guy is so cute and it's really now or never. Not one of those things I can re-visit later. Pregnancy and delivery is just so hard though . . . . So, my scale said 169.8 on Wed!! Woohoo! But I am going with 171 since it went up again. For now onto the next 10 pounds to make a total of -50!!!. I never imagined that with a bit of will, patience, l and a method I could get this far! Here's to health and happiness! Thanks to each and every one of my FS friends who are making this journey possible!
171.0 lb Lost so far: 67.0 lb.    Still to go: 11.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Try keeping your carb intake at about 80-100 grams. You will see fast results. Don't worry about your calories right now just the carbs

Thanks Pars! Yes, that's my maximum carbs. That is exactly what I have a problem with. And I'm not sure what carbs I'm able to process easier. .... But it seems like even lentils and brown rice don't work for me. I am doing 2 low carb / low calorie days a week to shake things up a little. It did get me out of my little plateau!

Is carb intake different for age and body weight? I'm 65 yrs and 177.00 lbs. I've only lost 2 lbs since January and keep calories at 1200. Back to exercising on Total Gym 20-30 min at least 3 times a week. Stationary bike used to be 5 miles 3 times a week but slacked off because of PT for hip replacement 3 yrs ago that has pain flaring up in the tendons. Back to my questin is 80-100 a day good for me?

Hi Sheryyl; nice to meet you! I think there is a lot of debate about the right amount of carbs. It totally does depend on your weight and activity level, and what type of diet you're following. My ketogenic friends won't go over 20 grams of carbs a day but I might die if I did that! I have yet to try it. 80-100 should work for you if you're "watching what you eat" and reducing calories. It also depends on what else you're eating, and what kind of fats and carbs and your protein intake . . . . anyway, I'm seriously no expert and each body is completely different. I follow Coach Calorie on Facebook and there's a web page also. They have great information! I have an insulin resistance problem so the carbs are harder on me. . . . .

There doesn't look like much bounce on your great looking weight chart, my friend… such a steady downward trend! One day at a time! xoxox
