I believe I have gotten my set point reset to my final goal weight of 175lbs. This is after 6+ months at goal. I can vary my calorie input by several hundred calories per day and maintain at, or closely around, that weight.

Substituting veggies for protein intake hasn't hurt my maintenance plan at all. In fact the high intake of veggies has made it effectively impossible for me to over consume calories (of any type). My net carb intake hasn't risen substantially from my LC days despite the huge increase in vegetables. This is due to the fact that the veggies I choose are, for the most part high in fiber, thus low in net carbohydrates (especially when compared to their shear bulk).

My switch to grass fed/free range/cage free animal protein and organic foods has greatly enhanced my energy levels and sense of well being. I'm sure it is improving my overall health as well.

I am getting many or most of the phytonutrients I need for good health now. My omega-3's have increased substantially (usually around 3-5 grams/day). Also have decreased the omega-6's to a very healthy level. Still taking a DHA supplement to insure my brain gets this essential nutrient. I now make a concerted effort to replace bad fats with healthy alternatives. I am looking forward to the results from my blood tests later this month.

I have had to reduce my basal insulin rates several times in the past month, which is a good thing. Some adjustment may be necessary to my boluses due to increased insulin sensitivity.

I also, have begun a regimen of exercises to stimulate brain growth in the hopes of mitigating the effects of aging on my mental faculties. Alzheimer's being so much more likely in people with diabetes, this is also a factor to consider.

Just finished reading "Boost Your Brain" by Majid Fotuhi and am currently about 1/2 way through "Duty" by Robert Gates. Next on my Kindle list is "Grain Brain" by Dr. David Perlmutter. Looks to be an interesting read. I'll give it a review when I finish.

Interesting reading your comments. I had really tried the past 2 weeks trying to find a balance between increased veggies and increased protein. Have decided that an almost "Sane" diet is just going to have to be good enough.
