Good Afternoon, FS Warriors! As I suspected, after yesterday's fatostrophic indulgence, I knew dragging my a$$ out of bed and hooking up with Jillian was not going to be a pleasant task, and I was right. Turning on that DVD was like begging, "Beat me, hurt me!" Normally, after a rest day, those pushups would have come easier. Not this morning, I had to fight for each and every one of them. All the carbs I ate yesterday did nothing to decrease the burn as jumping jacks and jumping rope gave way to squat presses with weights. Lucky for me - lucky because 30 minutes would have been absolute drudgery - today I upped my workout to 2 min running/1 min walking (X10). The 10 repetitions kept my heartrate up, and added much needed variety to the workout. I selected "Play All" and proceeded to run/walk my way along tropical trails, coastline paths, and mountain overlooks.Sweated my butt off and kept the heartrate up to near 155. Felt like I had paid my penance for yesterday's indulgence, and I could face the day without guilt.

Didn't eat breakfast. Can you tell I'm serious about this? Drank some juice to take my vitamins, brewed my coffee in my go-cup and out the door I went, along with a 230 calorie salisbury steak dinner for lunch, with carrots and radishes. I don't know what supper has in store, but I can assure you I will be famished. I just have to exercise some discipline.

And there you have it. Hope everyone else is having as great a day as I am. Toodles!

You are doing great! I've not been one who liked the drill Sargent approach to motivation but it does work for lots of people. Have a wonderful day.

I know how you feel. I slipped up last week. Tonight my penance is Brussels sprouts.

What is the tropical trails/ocean/mountain thing?? I would love to have a game that immerses you into the game so it feels like you are going on a trail. I know it's not the same as the real thing but it could be the next best thing especially for this winter weather here.

No matter what things we slip up on all we can do is wake up and try again.

I was thinking of laying on the couch with a bowl of popcorn and watching a few mindless shows, but after reading your post and how much you suffered today, I've changed my mind. I'll be turning on my xBox instead and popping bubbles and plugging holes for 45 minutes. You sir, are my new hero!

Sorry, krstndwrds, it's not 'that' good. It's just a dvd that has a camera view going down different trails. Nothing near virtual reality. Just something to focus on instead of the treadmill screen. Glad I could help, CapeAnnCutie :) Stayed around 1600 calories today, so back on track, and ready to punish myself again in the morning. :D Once you get used to it, this sadomasochistical stuff isn't all that bad.

Wow you really kicked butt today DK! That's great! But isn't that heart rate a bit too high? Seems to me when I was working out at the Gym, I was told to keep it around 140. Maybe it's different for men; I don't know how they figure what's safe, etc. Just don't over do it. lol You're such a nice guy and are such a huge personality here to so many, I'd hate to have anything bad happen to you. keep up the great work.

LOL Thanks... I definitely need something different though. Maybe I'll look up some new Wii games or PS3 motion games. Keep up the good work!!!

fatostrophic. that really should be a word. Well done on the workout. You're a phenom!

Babe, it all depends on what your maximum heartrate is. It's different for everybody. There is a lot more info available on the forums for this, but basically it boils down to whether you go aerobic or anerobic. Aerobic is basically when your body is able to sustain your oxygen and energy levels for a long time, where anerobic is when your activity level exceeds your body's ability to provide enough oxygen and you crash and burn in a very short time. I am at about 80% at 150 BPM, so I'm at about what they would call a tempo rate. You are probably referring to the fat burning zone, and even 140 would probably be at the high end of your fat burning zone.

Nothing wrong with questioning things on here. Shows you're motivated.
