Ate off program on Saturday and Sunday. Feeling disappointed in myself. I have to embrace low-carb lifestyle on the weekends, and I am struggling with that. I am okay with Atkins OWL Sunday-Friday, but feel entitled to a free day (high carb) on Saturday. How do I get over this mentality and embrace this every low-carb life day? I'm so mad at myself and am not going in the right direction!

I am a runner so lived a high carb diet for many, many years. Almost every meal, including snacks, had to include carbs. I started having digestive problems over the past couple months and have switched to no gluten and very low carb. I am amazed how the cravings for carbs have gone away. For your "cheating", try sweet potato fries or brown rice. Good luck!

I struggle with this as well. I did much better in Jan just from noticing that my "cheat weekends" were then taking 3 days to recover. After that I decided that if I really wanted something, rather than saying I could wait until the weekend, I would just ask if it's worth stalling my weight loss for a few days. If I was okay with it, I'd eat it - if not, I wouldn't. I found that having just one item, rather than a weekend, was satisfying me but not hindering the whole process. Once I saw more weight coming off, i didn't want to cheat and ruin it. Good luck!

Why don't you try a cheat meal instead of a day. Stay on plan for breakfast and lunch and just allow something your really want and enjoy for that dinner on Saturday.. The other thing might be to try carb cycling (you have lower and higher carb days). People still lose but it allows more flexibility. You can google carb cycling if you are interested.
