Hubby is putting a rush on my valentines day gift. He's going to be out of town at a tradeshow this week so he won't be around for us to celebrate valentines day. Instead he will be with a bunch of guys looking at giant machinery. I have until tomorrow to find him something that I can slip into his bag for him to find and open on Friday. I think I came up with an idea over the weekend though. Our sudden shopping spree inspired me.

We decided to spend a bunch of money on appliances. The stove and the dryer decided to both go out at about the same time. Well the dryer has been slowly dying as the bearing goes out.. the stove was a sudden death. Both would cost almost as much as a new one to fix so we decided to suck it up and replace the ancient things. This should probably be our gifts to each other but it just feels wrong to not say Happy Valentines Day. Anyways.. I'm rambling.

Here's my idea inspired by Pinterest. I'm going to get a card and a couple scratch offs and lottery tickets. Total cost.. between $5-$10. Put the tickets in a small box with the message "The luckiest day of my life is the day I met you." But here is the tricky part. Is it wrong to put "P.S. If you win big and spend it all at the tradeshow I will hunt you down?" Personally I think it's funny but does it kill the romance or sweetness of the idea?

In other news.. Operation healthy pregnancy is going well. I didn't worry about working out. I know the barn chores equal a half hour on the eliptical so I decided wrestling calves and pushing grain carts and throwing hay bales was my workout. If I worked out on top of all that I would be burning more than I'd consume. Plus.. weight gain over the weekend -0.1. So?? Not working out was the smart thing to do. Eating was great. Lots of veggies and fruit and jimmy dean sausage biscuit breakfast bowls.... Ok.. so not exactly healthy but the veggies and fruit and balanced meals all the other times even it out. Today is lunch with a co-worker and I have no idea where we are going. Hopefully its somewhere I can be good and not a buffet. My pants are currently being held with a rubber band. It may be time to retire all my pants and live in stretchy things. Only bad part is when your pants are being held together with a rubber band the temptations to say woohooo buffet time gets stronger... strange but natural occurance. Yup yup

Personally I think it would be hilarious to include the p.s. But only you know your husband. Perhaps a winking smiley would help lighten?

I think thats a super cute valentines day gift for a guy : ) Might have to steal your idea cause I was rather clueless as to what to get my man. And well the whole new healthy eating thing kinda rules out chocolate : )

I hate when appliances go out, they're too expensive. I like the PS, if your hubby didn't have a sense of humor you wouldn't be with him, so I'd put that in there, he'll chuckle at it. Sounds like the pregnancy is healthy so far. You're doing great!

Your valentine idea reminds me of that joke where the wife says 'honey, pack your clothes, I just won the lottery' and he asks 'should I pack for beach or mountains' and she answers, 'your choice, just get the heck out'. Our marriage had that kind of humor as well so you do what you think is best.

regarding the PS-oh yes, I would totally do that, and my husband would find it funny and loving, because that's how we roll. But we're strange that way.
