GlennM's Journal, 29 October 2013

I have the familiar 'Atkins breath' this morning. I am glad about that anyway. I am on weight-gaining meds and I am getting little to no exercise lately so that is all a recipe for disaster. I found Atkins works best with calorie restriction too. Some wrote it is not as easy to lose as the first time and it is likely true. It took a long time but I got well under 200. Exercise is a key and if one is limited with that one basically must do some strict dieting. I notice thin women who don't exercise much don't eat much. I know two women in their 60s, 1200 calories a day. One walks after every meal, the other walks miles too. It is more difficult for me as my ankles have been bothersome with arthritis. I must get to swimming in the next week. My fitbit is useless, it killed my computer and I have a new computer and I am not having it crash this one too. I am likely to go to Florida this winter. There is a possibility I may move down to the South this next year. I will start journaling and daily weigh-ins too for myself for a time. I am eating out too much, but the good thing is now I have 'Atkins breath' so even though I started out doing OWL, I am on the right track. I had three diet drinks yesterday, but they're very unhealthy, I went a month without them. The artificial sweeteners are basically toxins, so baking with them and cooking etc. is NOT recommended. Stevia gives me Charlie horse leg cramps too. I am on my way, and with the familiar taste in my mouth this morning I know losing is not too far away. I want to be below 210 by next May. I can do it. I am off to join the gym again this morning, and I am NOT eating out so much unless it is a low-carb salad. I did this before so I can do it again.

Thanks, Bella - Bren... I woke up way before sunrise and went back to bed, so tomorrow I will try to go. It is very cold here (change of seasons, which is now called 'climate change'. The climate changes every day, pretty much. Anyway, I will try to go for a walk today this afternoon late or this evening and to the gym this week to join and swim again. I know Atkins works and it kills one's appetite too.

I decided that it was best just to give up the artificial sweeteners altogether - but it is still difficult at times. Hang in there Buddy!

Yes, Buffy. I saw Dr. Oz said two packets a day - Splenda, etc. --- they will find out it is all toxic after a time. I had Diet Coke the other day, I crave it more than anything. I want one now! It is not good, I feel better after a month of quitting it. Almond milk unsweetened has next to no carbs in it - regular milk 12 or 13 times more minimum. Anyway, I did walk to the gym and join though they did not give me a card because the computer was down, so I may go tomorrow evening to go swimming. I have a walk home... but I can do it.
