Finally got to use my slow cooker this weekend! I was so excited. :) I made an easy dish that basically consisted of butternut squash cubed, gala apples cubed, golden raisins, and some cinnamon and nutmeg! It smelled great and I thought (for me anyways!) it was pretty darn healthy. I'm having the leftovers for lunch today.

We got ZERO trick-or-treaters for the 2nd year in a row. Last year we had just moved into our house and I was so excited, decked the place all out, and had tons of candy on hand. And then NOTHING. So this year I left our light on just in case any kids came and was just going to give any kid who came a whole bag to themselves lol.

I ended up being Elle Woods for Halloween since I'd just watched Legally Blonde on Friday night. Pretty easy to put together... I just modeled it after her look when she was going to get her nail lady's dog back... glasses, hair in braids, little ski cap type of hat. Wore a hot pink velour sweatsuit. I didn't really get any good pics, I think my friend Jen posted one on FB though.

We went to New Hope on Saturday night to do the Ghost Tour. I'm pretty cynical anyways and found all the stories zero percent plausible and not at all scary. Also I think our petite elderly tour guide was just too sweet to be scary as she talked lol.

Yesterday Salem decided that our house is not "kid friendly" since we don't have any toys. We are watching both Izzy and Noah all next weekend so we went to Marshalls and stocked up. She's very into Dora the Explorer so we got her a themed Dora indoors tent, Dora's Xmas DVD, and a Dora puzzle to put together. For Noah we got big Legos and nerf balls in the shapes of football, soccerball, baseball. We also got Candyland! I'm not sure who's more excited for the weekend visit... us or Izzy! (Noah's too little to really know what's going on).

Baby Abby is doing well and is in the "normal" nursery (as opposed to Intensive Care). She gets to come home tomorrow! Betty is having a "Meet Baby Abby" pizza party on Friday but I can't go b/c I usually work til 730 PM on Fridays to make up for times I leave early to go to class. Oh well, we will see her on Saturday when we pick up the other kids.

Gratitude:
1) Next week is a short week (thank you, veterans, for Veteran's Day!)
2) My slow cooker
3) Holiday season has begun!!!

Have a great day friends!

Love New Hope. We stayed at the Logan Inn one weekend before we had kids. We were eating dinner there, and reading the menu, and it had a little story there about the "resident ghost" Emily (No, I did not name my daughter after her! LOL). We had no idea about this ghost when we arived, but started to put together what had happened in our room the night before... We had gone to bed, and while asleep, we hear a HUGE crash that really startled us - the blinds had been thrown halfway across the room!!! We got up, put them back on the window, and went back to sleep not thinking anything of it, just that it was a little wierd. Not until talking to our waitress the next day did we realize that it must have been Emily... SPOOKY! We also stayed at another place in Cape May that was on Ghost Hunters - we had no idea that place was haunted either, but according to them, it is! Another place that was on Ghost Hunters was a hotel up in Cooperstown, NY. We never stayed there, but ate dinner... SSPPOOOOKKYYYYY ( ;

Is the slow cooker as great as it seems? It's been a while I"m thinking about buying one but I'm not sure I will use it... Did you buy a cookbook too? Sounds like you spoiled your nephew and niece lol!

Sounds like a good weekend. Sorry you didn't get any trick or treaters. That's always a let down. Seems like the kids are mostly concentrated in certain areas these days. I think making sure your place is kid proof will be your best bet, especially if you have a few new things to play with. Kids always like new toys better than anything they have at home. (Even if just new to them.) I guess your sis-in-law is feeling better! At this point, when other people came over I would just sit in my room, nursing Finn and crying, whenever anyone came over. I hated having people over in the beginning, it just stressed me out. Maybe it'll be different with number two.

That will be so much fun when the kids come. I love playing all those games. I miss that with my kids. I think I will use my slow cooker this week too. Hope your Monday is going good!
