I've made a decision. I'm going to see if a) the bridesmaid dress can be "let out" and/or b) would I be able to exchange the one I have for a size up and then alter down.

I hope this doesn't sound like I plan on quitting. I don't want to chance squeezing into a dress and look like I'm doing so in all the pictures that will remain for years after... I'm trying to be prepared for no change in my weight. I don't like the way all this sounds typing it out...

I have to weigh in tomorrow. Hope the scale will be nice.

Think about it differently. You are not giving up but your friend is counting on you to make her day the best ever and these are her pictures. You know she is going to want everyone to look their best. That doesn't mean you can't keep trying as a matter of fact I expect you too. Feel better?

I agree, Free Bird! You're just being safe. Imagine you showing for posterity in the picture holding your breath and sucking your tummy in? You better change for a larger dress, and if necessary you alter it (or change it again, what's the problem?).
