We got so much done yesterday, that I have time this morning to check in & go to a workout class (no tv-less fitness room for me... Boot camp instead!) a little later. DS's house mates were great -- helped us pack up his stuff, ship it & do a goodwill drop off. So today, all we have to do is close his bank & college cash accounts, and do a final clean up of his room. We're ahead of schedule & right on track for flying home tomorrow.
It's going to be bittersweet though saying goodbye to his house mates & other friends as well as this school which was the college of his dreams. It was the only school he wanted to visit & then apply to. The visit started in FSU's football stadium, one as nice as any pro stadium I'd ever seen, (DS played football in high school & was captain in his senior year, so the football team was the main attraction for him) & when the cute little bubbly blonde came out to lead the college visit tour, he soon turned to me & said that he "really, really" wanted to go to school here. One of the speakers at his freshman orientation spoke of "living the dream" & he certainly was & has, & has made many great friends and wonderful, fun memories. But as we all know as this one door closes, another had opened up that will hopefully get him to the next stage of life. Most importantly, he seems good with the decision, ready for this next chapter & excited about the opportunities ahead. He'll be at a smaller school which in hindsight will be a better place for him (in addition to his epilepsy, after his college struggles began, he was tested & diagnosed to have ADD), not actively in a fraternity & living at home, so his distractions will be minimized & his presence at school much more visible to others who he can hopefully get help from as needed. So again he is blessed & I am grateful.
But before I get on to my workout & day, I'll again pray for serenity. And throughout this one day and each one moment, meal, bite & emotion, I'll continue to pray, breathe, journal & express my way, each one at a time. I'm so grateful for each of you, this move in/move out process going so smoothly, a wonderful new opportunity for my oldest to succeed at college, my family & other friends, and the health & wealth to enjoy this life I love. My eating is going well as I navigate each meal eaten out. I'm focusing on eating mindfully with intention & attention, and living that way too! Xoxoxo
