Ugg..difficult week both physically, emotionally and foodwise. So, where do I begin? Ok, lets start with Last week. Last week, I was on vacation in Florida and that week was very good. I managed to stay within my calories and I even upped my exercise. I walked 6/8 days at least 2 miles before the day even began and with shopping and other things, I did really well with the miles I walked. Monday, I flew back to New York and started to get the house together again (it is not together..as we speak). Wednesday, I got a concerned call from my husban'd cousin that his grandfather (100years old) is not responding very well. This was evening time and we go immediately to the emergency department. It was very touch and go for the first day and a half. Basically, pneumonia with an exacerbation of congestive heart failure. He (as of yesterday) has delirium as well. So there is the emotional part. Physically, my husband got me a fitbit and I am loving it. I did over 70k steps in the first week and my legs and lower back are TIRED but I feel great about it. Today I am not going to try doing 10k steps because my muscles need a rest. Between steps and standing at the hospital to help grandpa, my body is shot. Just sitting here, I can feel the soreness of my legs. I gained a lot of muscle in the last two weeks and I can actually see my legs are more muscular/leaner. I also so my scale increase a bit.

Foodwise, with being at the hospital the majority of the time, there is no time to plan/prep healthy low cal foods. We get home really late and so to avoid eating late, I had resorted to a breakfast and a very heavy lunch and no dinner. I still watched the calories but it was a lot of restaurant/take out. We did go to healthy places (except one pizza lunch), so I am not unhappy with my choices. I am looking forward to eating properly again. Yesterday, I did eat late because I was exhausted and very hungry. Today I am striving to go back to my normal routine but I am not sure about what will happen during dinner because we leave for the hospital in the afternoon and are unlikely to return until 8-9pm.

Slept about 9 hours last night and still exhausted. My body is trying to catch up but since I started really walking a lot, I have been falling asleep faster and staying asleep. Developing an addiction to walking and thanks to the fitbit, not finding stairs and uphills a bad thing (It counts these has floors - trying to do more than 10 floors a day). I won't be updating the exercise portion of fat secret much because it isn't a whole picture of what I do in the day but I will record major exercises.

Anyway, hope my friends here are doing well and hoping that all this muscle gain will quickly show up in loss of lbs. I have lost inches though and that is always a plus. Time to start the day.

Sorry to hear you've had a bad week.............we are thinking of you. It is very difficult to stay on track especially when a few unavoidable traumas are thrown into the mix. At least you are aware of what you should and are doing and thats the main thing. Just keep in mind though that muscle does weigh more than fat so don't get down if you aren't loosing as much as you would like to see, your just converting into muscle! Hope things are looking up for you soon. Janine. x

I appreciate the support. I think in posting, it was exactly what I was looking for. Yesterday, I did manage to rest (only walked about 4000 steps). Grandpa was still showing delirium yesterday with some tiny bit of improvement. Today, I am happy to say, he is out of delirium but still very tired. We have been trying to give him food every chance we get. It was a relief to see him smiling and being is usual charming self :) Today, was monitoring my food much better (Good I made a huge meal the other day in which leftovers are available). I actually feel I should be eating more but I am just not hungry.
