Holy smokes, I'm almost back down to my lowest weight in the last five years. Granted, I only hit that weight a couple of months ago for a couple of days, but I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and be a good little GF eater and hope that I can get under 190 in the next week. I've been waiting for a long time for it!

The spouse is a bit shocked at how much food has wheat in it! LOL! He went grocery shopping today with me, apparently it was quite eye opening. I need to keep some little packets of nuts on hand for snacks when I can't get to my fridge or am out running errands. There are a LOT of things that I just cannot eat, and the things I can are usually the most expensive thing on the menu. Not that I NEED to be eating fast food, but sometimes when you're out you need a snack.

I'm a bit shocked by how much I can eat without really gaining much in the way of calories. When you are only eating fruit and veggies for carbs, you have to eat a LOT to just come up to your daily calories. I don't really do a lot of meat at a time and without the bread there's not a whole lot to many of my "normal" meals.

The fat worries me, I have to admit. Not sure what to do about that, most protein foods have a fair bit of fat to them.

Congratulations you little GF thing you! Yep, nuts are my first go to for keeping something quick and easy around when the hunger hits and I can't just stop for a good healthy serving of something. Fat in protein - I used to worry about it a lot and finally stopped. I know the fat is not the same fat as back in the day but short of sacrificing my yard to raise a pig & a cow it's gonna be what it's gonna be and the old 'fat makes you fat & causes heart disease' is finally starting to go away. Of course, that was the CRAP that kept me so messed up for so many years as I went to the 'fat free, low fat' foods that kept me still hungry. I bet, all in all if I were to think about it I'm likely more low carb high fat in my way of eating than anything these days; my carbs are 99% veg/fruit and after decades of 'fat' being the second thing I read on the label after calories, now... not so much. I can finally eat peanut butter without feeling like I just screwed up the whole week, love avocados & hummus, and meat... well, bring it on. I truly feel getting rid of the processed carbs and fast food (sorry) has been a big factor in my progress this time around.

Bella that really does help to know that, and I very much appreciate you taking a moment to write it down. I think you're probably on to something with that. I'm looking at my "fat" and what I'm seeing is, for the most part, olive oil, real cream, real egg, and other actual food, not processed food product. I'm going to go with it. My grandparents were very slim people, and they certainly didn't just eat white meat chicken and low-or-non-fat cheese. They just ate food. For the record-to my knowledge they NEVER ate at McDonalds, not even once. When my grandfather felt the need for a burger, he went to this little 4 stool dive where the guy always had a pile of onions on the griddle and shaped and slapped your burger down right in front of you on that griddle. (and yes, they were glorious) It was definitely not fast, nor did he eat fries with it or a shake. He just had a burger, and if I was with him, so did I. Nothing else. So, yeah, let me go back where I was before wandering off-getting rid of the processed stuff and the fast food is going to make a big difference, I think. We shall see, in any case, within a few months, whether it's working!

yeah, congratulations! you SOUND AWESOME! thanks for your post, I'm the first to preach no processed food... today was my first clean day back! you've reminded me how important it is to stick with it. it does pay off. when i wasn't protein, and not near, cottage cheese our yogurt.. can't remember if dairy was out!
