FullaBella's Journal, 10 July 2013

Fresh chopped cucumbers, tomatoes, red & white onions, red, yellow & green bell peppers and banana peppers for lunch. I love this salad. This morning I timed making it: 15 minutes :: and I didn't cut my thumb!!:: When I became shaky hungry yesterday I almost considered ordering a pizza before quickly opening the can of tuna. I can't even get a pizza in 15 minutes and the pizza place guy is a personal friend.

A six year customer didn't recognize me yesterday. After saying 'Butch, it's ME...' he finally exhaled, stammered and eventually shared 'I was trying to figure out where you went and why some strange gal was acting like she knew me.' Sure, it's the weight but a lot of it is the hat; the hat throws even my best friend when she meets me out in public.

I managed NOT to respond to the repeated 'My Gosh, You look Fantastic' with my usual defensive 'well, thank you, I'm sorry I was such a hideous view before...' I know people mean well with that comment and I just need to be gracious. Even when they say it four times. Or, especially when they say it four times.

I haven't noticed any change with the RX yet but it's only been a week. I've already had two peaks and two valleys today so it hasn't flat lined me yet.

Eating is pretty good. I complained about the Braums trip yesterday because of the drive, not because of the ice cream. Once I stopped recording my food I stopped worrying about that 'spoon' of ice cream I usually have when I dip a bowl for my husband. And, ironically, a spoonful is enough.

It was the, 'well, if I'm going to have to record it I may as well have the 1/4 cup serving' that was too much - that would put me into a sugar haze that wanted 'more more more'. I had an issue of having to go to Temptation Central last week on 'button pushing day' but it would have been the same if he'd sent me for burgers or BBQ or any food when I was feeling so stressed and emotional.

Yesterday I was just kvetching about the having to drive to Braums when I'd much rather walk over to the market for BlueBell. Heck, I had to gas up the car yesterday; I just did that 9 weeks ago, darnit!

In the vein of the advice to 'Wear What I Love and Love What I Wear' from your comments on my journal the other day: I discarded yet another 3 bags of clothes the other night. I'm still not completely settled on a 'style' yet but I did realize this morning and am about to utter a phrase I never thought I'd ever say: I don't like blue jeans anymore.

I know - seems practically unAmerican, huh? But it's true; for now anyway. Fortunately I have two pair of soft pastel print 'jean 'like' long pants' and two pair of khaki docker type shorts to get me through the rest of the summer and I'm not losing weight rapid enough to need smaller sizes as fast I was in the past.

I had already discarded 15-20 bags of clothes of all sizes once and had been thinning the closet with each sizing change the past few months. Part of me regrets getting rid of some of the 'thin' clothes because at one time I did have a killer wardrobe but regardless, while the clothes may fit me now, that 'life' the clothes represent does not.

Time to move forward with the me I'm becoming not the me I was.

That's likely what has led to my 'quirky' dressing as of late; the shorts & big shirts belong to my husband. I'm just not wanting to accumulate any more clothes until I decide a style. I may not actually choose a specific style; I may just decide to acquire, oh, for lack of a better word that escapes me right now, 'signature' pieces. Right now I feel I'd like to have 3-4 really significant ensembles than an entire closet of 'off the rack' stuff. No more 'junk clothes', LOL.

That's about it. Finished my salad. Hope you're all having a good day.

Bella

I recently saw a post that said, "Cut down your closet by 25% by asking yourself this question: If I were shopping right this second, would I buy this?" I'm not sure about how accurate the 25% is but it would certainly make me get rid of a few things. I understand your desire to have "signature pieces" in your wardrobe. 99% of my clothes shopping during my lifetime has been on what you might call "junk clothes" because I keep saying, "why spend big money on clothes that might not fit you in X months? And it didn't matter if it was because I was expecting to lose or gain. I just never felt worthy of purchasing expensive clothes - that was going to be my reward for getting to a goal weight which, of course, I never achieved. Getting rid of decades old "thin" clothes is a wise thing. No matter how "timeless" the pieces, styles and personal tastes change and, I hate to say, weight loss turns us (well, me for sure) into shape shifters - we may be the same weight as 20 years ago but what used to hug our hourglass curves now more resembles two kids fighting under a bed sheet. LOL. And life goes on :)

@Evelyn - you know, I've bought clothes the same most of my life too. Ross on the way down and Walmart on the way back up because I was always buying clothes that didn't fit the me I wanted to be. I think that's why I plan to buy 3-4 really good outfits rather than a whole closet of 'eh' because I'm tired of waiting for my life to begin. And I just glanced at my closet with that 'would you buy it now' and the answer on what's hanging there was a 95% NO. Time to move on.

My guess is it's not the hat, Angel, it's the new & improved you! Beside the weight drop, healthy living & eating have I'm sure had other positive effects too! Good for you for accepting the compliment graciously -- you deserve it! You have come so far! Xoxox

Hey Bella..I am sure they were shocked at how well you looked..You probably have a glow about you too..by eating the right stuff and and getting all the nutrients that you weren't before..Except those compliments every time they come..because you deserve them..you have worked hard to get to where you are now.....My Avatar pic is of a tree out west near the Grand Canyon...DH took me out there in 06...we had a blast....Keep taking care of you....As for the clothes..I agree that we need to say to our self...if we haven't worn it in a year we probably won't....I have some clothes I put away in draws and haven't seen them for quite awhile..I am thinking of giving them away soon..I need the draws again...LOL...:O)

Good morning Bella, it's Thursday and I see your light is on but not sure if it's just 'on' or if you are actually here this morning. Just wanted to say hello and hope you have an awesome day.

You can't go wrong with 3 or 4 outfits that look good on you, that's enough, it really is. If they can switch out amongst themselves, mix and match, that's even better. You'll get more wear out of those outfits than you will a closet full of junk. @blue jeans-Ya know...I just discovered I'm not wild about jeans myself. If I have an alternative, I will wear that rather than jeans. I never noticed until I read what you wrote up there, but considering I've got through the last 5 years owning at most 2 pairs of jeans at a time I think it's time to accept that I really prefer other things. In summer I wear shorts, light skirts and linen trousers, in winter I wear tights and skirts and boots, or tailored trousers in black, gray or some shade of brown. The jeans are almost exclusively worn around the house to do grubby work.@ Evelyn-nearly fell of my chair laughing about the "two kids fighting under a bed sheet" comment! LOL! That's what Spanx are for, when you absolutely positively must not jiggle, wobble or wiggle! But I totally have seen the shape-shifting-morph happen with my body, it is NOT the body I once had, not at all.

*Angel - this is the part where I'd argue my faults but I will accept your compliment too. Thank you. *Bren - love the picture, it's gorgeous. And yep, cleaning those drawers is another way of lightening up - amazing how I keep filling them. *Isabel - hope you have a great day too. I don't always log out when I leave FS so I'm the icon for 'lights are on, no one's home' I guess, LOL. *Colly - That's basically my thought but whether they mix & match is not going to be my quest this time; I've done that too many times in the past and it never worked for me. One of the things I want to clarify is I'm not one of those folks who feel 'the more it costs, the better it is.' I've seen plenty of folks with money who dress, IMO, like a hot mess. I may lean even toward 'vintage' just to have something that isn't on every other woman's back. Ahh... the shape shifting - so true. I think my bra size changed from 42D to 36 Long, LOL. Thank goodness for long line bras for days I wanna get the girls off my waist :-)

LOL on so many levels - "lights on, nobody's home" and 36 long. Unfortunately that is so true. I used to to little and perky now I'm the new 8th dwarf - droopy! Sigh. Oh well at least we can laugh about it.

*Isabel - nodding to your comment. I know this leans back on my journal the other day about being grateful in the recognition of those who are without - but yeah, I laugh and accept my 36L with the caveat that 'I haven't lost them to ((cancer)) yet...' Early developer and yo-yo weight loser, I don't think I was ever perky.

LOL-laughing and nodding along with the 36Longs! I was perky about 16 years ago, still...then I had the boy and breast fed him. End of perky boobs for this woman! LOL! I've been in a D or DD or DDD since I was about 18 though, so I never expected them to stay pointing forward in any case. RE-the more it costs the better. Yup, I've seen people like that, and they've got it all wrong. If you find ANYTHING at any price point that fits you perfectly, that's the one you should get, doesn't matter if you get it at the Goodwill. Something that fits well is always going to look more "posh", expensive, luxurious, etc., than something that costs a lot but is ill-fitting or just not a flattering silhouette for your particular body type. Even if the current "trends" do not suit your body type, plain basic pieces, in flattering colors, that DO suit your body type, polished up with a trendy accessory and really good shoes, will look up to date and far more stylish. I buy my handbags at thrift stores and I get really expensive bags for not much money that way-yes, usually they're a bit worn around the edges but especially with leather bags that just makes them look better. My problem is shoes-I can't afford 'em! LOL!
