I need help. I've tried low fat,low cal., high protein, high fiber, low cal. And i've tried upping my cals. but just gain. I've been told so many things i'm getting confused. The diet that worked the best was high fiber low cal., low fat. I workout at Curves and walk as fast as I can up to 4 times a week for both. Just wanting to know what would be a good plan for me? I am 46 and weigh 289. I don't have alot of money and no help with this here. Everyone around me eat junk. I don't have alot of time either. If anyone out there has any ideas please give it to me.

You didn't list low carb, have you ever attempted it? Lots of good people here could help you along.

The best i've been able to do with low carbs is down to between 100/150 g net. That is with cal. of 1400 cal. Everything has so many carbs in them.

I'm 43 and started at 270 at the beginning of this year and have lost 25 pounds so far. I'm not following any particular diet plan, just counting calories and trying to get a balance of macro nutrients. Nothing is really off limits for me. I try to eat non processed foods most of the time, focus on lean protein, low fat or nonfat dairy, and lots of veggies and fruit. I have not been perfect, but I have made progress while working full time and raising two kids. I work out in the morning usually before work. I knew going into this that I need to incorporate a variety of foods and did not want to focus on Low anything, just eat healthy foods in balance and move my body as much as possible. I could have pushed harder, been more diligent, and lost more faster, but I'm happy with my results so far and have seen my food choice habits gradually get better as I do this. I like the slow and steady pace. Even on vacation recently I often naturally made better choices that I knew would make me feel better rather than splurging too much on what I knew would make me feel terrible.

Thank you. I did Atkins a few years ago and lost 50 in 3 monthes. I'm just trying different things. I had lost 323 altogether but stoped and regianed 70 over the last 1 1/2 years. It used to come off so easy now i'm in pre-menapausal and i'm stuck. I think i'll try Atkins agien and see if kick starts it agien. Thank you for answering.

You lost 50 pounds in 3 months? WOW! Maybe with the support of FS you'll resist gaining it back next time.
