Happy 4th of July!

Do you ever have one of those "bad food days" that you have no control over? Yesterday I got trapped at work with only mixed nuts and a chunk of cheese - so that was breakfast, lunch and snacks from 7 AM until 6 PM. Amazing how many calories those two items have.

Lesson learned! From now on the freezer at work will be kept stocked. This may surprise some of you because I've never been a fan of Atkins products, but I've been using their frozen meals. They are (mostly) real food, low carb AND low calorie. And some days I'm just too lazy to pack a lunch.

To make up for yesterday, this holiday will be filled with grilled meat and fresh veggies from my garden - got lots of squash and cucumbers, and even our first tomato!

Wishing you all good food choices on this 4th!

Sorry, but the idea of you being 'trapped' at work with mixed nuts and cheese has really made we laugh. It conjures up lots of images of a giant cheese and some angry nuts blocking your escape route to freedom!. Thanks for the giggle. Have a great 4th of July. Happy Independence Day!

Joey - Your imagination is too close to the truth to be funny!

Buffy, it's kinda scary, but I actually had a very similar thought to what Joey had-- huge cheese wheel being rolled towards you by angry little nuts while you cower in the corner and fend them off with a fork...! Great minds think alike?? More like no sleep and too much caffeine over here! LOL Are the Atkins meals expensive? Tasty? Decent portion size? Been wanting to try one, but can't seem to locate any around here. Your garden sounds wonderful! Have a great Fourth! :D

Yummy - I love cucumbers and tomatoes drizzled with a little olive oil!

Raven - The Atkins meals are about $3.60, depending on where you buy them. The size is a good one for my lunches (but maybe too small for a dinner). My favorites are the Chicken Pot Pie (real comfort food - eat with a spoon like a stew) and the Italian Sausage Primavera. All 3 of the local store have them in frozen food next to the other brands of diet dinners (Healthy Choice, Weight Watchers, etc.). Oh crap - I think I sound like a commercial - LOL.

Bren - I wish you could eat these veggies too - I am always amazed at how well you do with all the obstacles you face. Good luck with that 5 pounds!

HCB - Now were are talking! The sun it out drying up the mud. I've got to venture down and collect those veggies.

Buffy, thank you for that commercial break...err...I mean that info! LOL Is much appreciated. They sound great to have around for those "too late to cook" times--and those "I'm starving and being chased by a nut-powered cheese wheel" days... *grin*

That's what the Atkins products are made for....and I think they do a great job for exactly those situations. At least the frozen meals don't have sugar alcohols!!!
