EDIT - I found myself with a surplus of time so I'm reclaiming my journal space. Gotta move quick on the free stuff :-)
Wow - time warps or making really good use of the 15 minute rule today because it's only 1:00 and I've already shopped and prepped everything preppable for the fish fry as well as done the biggest single customer sale I've done in my shop in a month. All that in addition to my normal stuff so... Whew!
Nonetheless, it leaves me more time (than anticipated earlier) to journal as I now have a couple of hours to kill but no customers.
I've decided the age old 'never shop when you're hungry' rule may need a subsequent qualifying sentence. I'd just said that out loud as I bought too many fantastic squash and cucumbers at the farmers market.
I'm not sure if breakfast would have stopped me from buying yet another plant (purse lane) though. It's waiting in the wings for my husband to fall asleep so I can sneak it to the backyard. As I'd just brought in two new last night I'm sure he'd give me the raised eyebrow and comment. My defense last night was that at this time of the year Lowe's should be paying ME to take those poor little root bound babies off their hands.
In a town where it seems *I* am the only person who EVER walks anywhere, as I never encounter ANYONE else on foot, I must look really odd, especially as I ambled back home with my canvas bag of produce over my shoulder and carrying my flowering pot plant while talking to myself. I cannot imagine what it'd be like to live in a busy city and have to share the sidewalk.
The voices in my head were busy as I lectured myself for 'shopping while hungry' but then a thought hit me so hard I stopped walking. Some people can't walk and chew gum. I can't walk and have epiphanies.
If I HAD eaten breakfast before going to the market, well, by golly, I wouldn't be able to go home and enjoy the fabulous fresh squash, tomato, cucumber and onion salad I was already chopping and mixing up in my head while still hungry. I'd have to wait until I was hungry again. Later. Another time.
In the spirit of 'when I am hungry, I will eat what I love' - well, by golly, this was it in action. Really hungry. Really about to prepare a dish I love.
However, I must not have epiphanies on the sidewalk... they attract attention. One of our local officers pulled up beside me (yes, our town is JUST that small that a person standing still on the sidewalk justifies a drive by) rolled down the window of his squad car and asked 'Ma'am, is everything okay?'
Yeah, everything but calling me 'Ma'am'... Sonny... I'll remember that ..
I just said 'I'm fine... just taking my plant for a walk....'
Someday they're gonna take me away..... I hope it's somewhere nice ....

2pm Edit again: I may not make the last hour in the shop ~ the restaurant across the street has an open courtyard and a live band has taken the stage. It's triple digits HOT out there so that definitely means they are INSANE. Plus, the lead singer thinks 'check, check, check' are lyrics. Someone give that man a check and get him off the stage!

24 hours counted down and the Wildchild didn't rear her rebellious head so nothing to confess but not ready to boast. I'm doing an outdoor fish fry at Bellawood this afternoon so I'm headed out to the farmer's market before I open the shop.
