GlennM's Journal, 21 September 2010

I have been busy to put it mildly. Anyway, my BIL Rob came over on Monday - both BILs are named that and both nephew-in-laws are named Joshua and both of them go by Josh. My niece is moving out of my twin sister's house and my nephew is moving back in to save money with a girlfriend. My books are in my computer and Rob downloaded Microsoft Office or something into my computer - I have to get on there tomorrow and start typing my tons of writing from the notebooks into the computer and get a backup little thumb drive once enough typing is on there. The dieting is going OK and could be better if I lost the weight faster. I went to a nearby mall about seven miles away by bus yesterday evening and did shopping. There is a bus running late into the evening in such a small town area as it goes from Smith College to UMass and Amherst College and along the way are two malls next to each other. Hampshire College and Mt. Holyoke also have buses from Smith College, which is just under a mile from where I live. There is a daytime bus that connects to another bus to a larger mall about ten miles away from here, it's longer on the buses but at least there is a way for me to get there if I want to go by myself. It sure isn't as good as a city, but one can get around here without a car if they live, say near where they work. The weather was windy today, low 70s, I like it a bit warmer, and it will be the next few days. I will try to get on buddies' journals this week. A side note - the economy here is mainly the colleges so housing prices never dipped dramatically here. The downtown of the town I live in is thriving fairly well with many restaurants and shops and is probably the nicest downtown in W Massachusetts. Calorie intake up a bit the past few days. I will try to get it back down to lose weight more rapidly and also try to go on long walks if I can no matter how much I ache, right now my back is better...

Between the age of 4 and 7 I lived in Cape Cod Mass. on the AFB of Otis. Fun age since I didn't have to shovel the snow just play in it. Remember the colorful caterpillers and wild flowers that popped up and a long and winding road that lead to our base housing. ("Beatles Song, popular at that time:) I felt like they were singing about the road my parents would take us home on lol. Enough about me lol. I am happy your back is better and are enjoying some 70 degree weather. TOWANDA!!!

Hi - I have been to the Cape numerous times, now I'm living inland one hundred miles west of Boston in the Connecticut River Valley of western Massachusetts, where I was raised. It's nice here for me from April to October, the rest of the year too cold for me - though lately the winters have been fairly OK. The winter before last one January day my aunt visited and it got up to a mild 74* and it was sunny - a good break from winter. It didn't get that warm again till at least two months more later at the very least, that is more tolerable weather for me... I like the Beatles too, I remember especially as a six or seven-year-old everyone in the playground singing 'Yellow Submarine' though most kids only repeated the same few words over and over. I very well remember 'Hey Jude' too, their biggest hit, and now of course know most of their music quite well...
