Ms Elizabeth's Journal, 20 May 2013

I've got flowers! The flower bed I worked on with the neighbor has flowers. Things haven't died yet! Yay! I planted flowers in the barn sign last night and put 2 milk cans on either side. Hopefully those plants live as well. Yay! The veggie garden???? HAHAHAHA. Ok... I started some tomato and cabbage seeds then started putting them outside like you're suppose to before you plant them. I forgot them.. it got a lil windy.. They were sitting on top of the hot tub.. the hot tub cover flipped up and bye bye seedlings. So I planted seeds next. There is squash, carrot, peas, and more squash in the one. These veggie planter boxes are at least 2' 6" tall. I thought.. if they were up the dogs would leave them alone. I was right.. sorta... The dog I thought would dig in them has left them alone. My dog decided they look like a couch. He keeps laying in them for his afternoon nap. So I got to looking and all the seeds have popped back out of the ground. Next thing I notice is a lil birdy taking off with my squash seed. Seriously?!?! I think I need to replant my garden. But if I replant my garden and some of the seeds remained then I will have veggies in strange places. Like a carrot in the middle of my squash plant. On the other hand I have no idea where these things will pop up now so I won't know what's a weed and whats a freakin plant! *smacks head*

Diet? HAHAHAHA! The invasion has begun. I was all set to get my act straight and stop cheating. Apple chips? Check. Bags of lettuce? Check Carrot sticks? Check. Then I get the call from hubby. The invasion is beginning. His farmer buddy from 3 hours south of us is on his way. The other farmer who is partners with this farmer buddy has taken off with one of hubbies tractors to plant. The guy that used to milk for us when hubby bowled is on his way to help with milking tonight. I was afraid of this. I can't afford, don't want to, and don't plan on doing the whole fast food thing. I made pulled pork for hubby to eat this week so hopefully there's still some of that left for dinner. I stopped and got the fixings.. for a week. Salt potatoes, beans, rolls, brats, burgers, meats, more potatoes, etc. Manly food?? CHECK. Pocketbook? Dented. Diet? HAHAHAHA At least I don't have to go through mcdonalds tonight ordering 2 large number 3's, 4 10 piece chicken nuggets, a large number 6 no lettuce, 1 large ice tea, 2 large cokes, a large number 4, a mighty kids chicken nugget meal, a grilled southwest salad, another large tea, add another 10 piece nugget to that and a medium fry, no I don't want the meal, crap give me a large chocolate shake I'm gonna need it. Yeah you can turn that into a meal now. Can you repeat that back? Ok.. lets start over. *smacks head* Now I just have to plan meals for a week for an army and see who else shows up. So? Diet? Hahahahahahahahaha I did get the light frozen strawberry margarita pouch instead of the regular pouch. That's sort of dietish. And.. frankly.. the only way to survive an invasion is either drinking or chocolate.

Yey, I'm glad the flowers are blooming! That stinks that all the seeds are scattered... It'll be a Where's Waldo scavenger hunt come harvest time. :) Good luck with the company coming over, it sounds... daunting... but I'm sure you'll have a great time! :D

OMG, McDonalds must love to see you coming! lmao...I'm waiting for hubby to get the wood from a co-worker - he has rail posts that we're going to get (the 8x8 posts that hold up the rails that go along side highway curves) and he's going to build me a roughly 4ft by 4ft raised flower bed - I don't do well crawling around on my hands and knees, and I figured maybe with something about 3 feet off the ground, I'll have more of a chance of actually getting some flower bulbs to bloom, and have more flowers than weeds! plus that would keep my bulb-thief of a dog from removing the bulbs from the dirt, and leaving them laying in the yard!! And you can keep the chocolate, give me the alcohol!! lmao

I would choose the drinking over chocolate...especially if I had to place THAT McDonald's order. I'm exhausted just reading all you have to do :)

With all those people you'll probably eat great because it sounds like the carrots & apples will be safe... around here the 'healthy' food is always safe; thank goodness I don't have to live on ice cream or rootbeer because that goes first..

OK, that's it... I'm going to have to start visiting! I was home all weekend other than Maddie singing at church yesterday.... just saying!

I am jealous of at least the potential of all those veggies, even if they do pop up in random spots! Good luck - stick to your snacks while you have the guests. Think of that end of the month weigh in!!

At least you've got flowers!! My plan for yesterday was to plant my garden, but it started storming, so no planting for me until next Monday. I've got a dog who will dig up what I planted, so I have to watch for him, there will be a fence around the garden next year. I hope you survive the invasion. Sounds like quite a crowd. I never can eat well when my hubby's family is here. The only good thing is that I'm usually last in line for dinner and they are pigs, so there isn't much left, and no seconds. Good luck!!

Your gardening adventures sound like mine. I was rolling laughing. That sounds like lots of stress that McDonalds order. Hope your week gets better. I'd opt for margaritas and chocolate. Then I'd start running... Far away from that dairy farm! Lol

Exhausted just thinking about all you do. I would definitely do alcohol and chocolate - I would say you deserve it but try to hold tight to the veggies and fruit and get some protein in their. You definitely need a 'wife' yourself.
