Slow moving today. Lousy night. Even too ibuprofens and hurt so bad. Getting scared as I'm starting with the constant pain in the back going down the legs. The signs the doctor said to be aware of.

Won't exercise today, but will vacuum just to keep moving.

Watching diet closely and trying to keep within the 1517/day allowance. Haven't lost anything in a week. Really wish I knew how others lose 1-2lbs./wk. At this point I have to wonder if going off my thyroid meds has anything to do with the inability to lose. Been off of them for 1 month and will resume my normal dosage tomorrow after I see my endocrinologist. Going to get him to run a battery of hormone tests... estrogen, progesterone, DHEA, cortisol, testosterone, etc. Re-test my TSH, t3 and t4 also. Need to see if meds is working at all.

DID EXERCISE TODAY: WALKED HIIT... Experimented. Used 0 incline with casual speed of 2.50 then ramped it up to 4.10. Had me huffing and puffing. Next experiment was to keep the speed at 3.50, incline at 0, then upped it up to 8%. I found that easier to do. Less fear of falling. Lousy knee and all that. Did the higher intervals for 60 seconds and cool downs for 90-120 seconds. CALORIES BURNED 166.

Hi! Once you have the thyroid cleared as to what is going on that will help. I have been struggling with my weight, but I know what to do to get the weight off now. I hope you don't mind I checked out your menu and exercise. You are doing many things right. I hope it is okay to suggest to lower your sodium if you can to a lot lower level as well I might have a few suggestions? My Nutritionist had also said to make your pie chart on FS to be 1/2 healthy carbs, 1/4 fat and 1/4 protein. Make switches gradually, if you have to. Might want to think about a bread with 100 calories or less, she said? Bread also has a ton of sodium and dressings do, too. Try changing your fats to olive oils if can or healthier fats. I am impressed with a lot of what you are doing, though. Hope it helps. I wish you the best. I have found that mostly, not always my back pain level is better with less sodium and more water. Make sure you follow Dr's suggestions if you need to, of course :). See if your insurance plan covers a Nutritionist. She really helped me with the calorie limit.Honestly Fat Secret did not help me with that, although they are great with so much. I know what the RDA is for sodium, but it doesn't help with a diet, Nutritionist said don't go lower that 500-1000mg a day. All the best. Sally

I am grateful you took the time to go over what I'm eating. I get so bored, so I try to mix it up a bit. Salt. My biggest weakness. I will again attempt to use salt-sense or some substitute. I rarely eat bread, but did this week because our son was here and I got his fav from Costco and I love it too. Interesting about the 1/2 carbs and 1/4 for others. This is where I get a bit dippy. I was advised to do at least 115 grams of protein daily which comes to 1/2 and 1/4 carbs & fats. I did what was called a "bodpod" to check for muscle density, etc. and was told I needed 1517 calories just for my body to function and when I exercise, in addition to the 1517 calories I was to eat equal the amount of calories I burned. So needless to say, I experience mass confusion when I read others say calories in calories out. There are so many different trains of thought regarding dieting. As to thyroid, though my labs are normal, this guy will treat you based on your symptoms. Something I've been begging doctors to do for 20 years. Took that long to get up to 246 from 135. At this point, 150 sounds heavenly and should I reach that goal, I will shoot for 135. Stopped the meds because I read it could be the reason why my hair is falling out. Eventhough I'm not losing, the muscle is building up. I do strength training 3-4 times/week. Probably too often according to my niece. But I've been fighting this current battle since 10/2011 and find myself feeling sorry for myself and worrying that I'll gain it all back. I'd have to walk around naked because I gave away all my clothes and only have those that currently fit. Then go to Good Will and pick up a shirt or two or pants and live in them. My insurance. They won't pay for a nutritionist. I am private pay. We lost our insurance after hubby was diagnosed with MS and had to quit his job. So, I guess I'm lucky to have any insurance at all at 61. Currently looking for a job and hoping to find one with benefits. That would save us over 10k/year. Keep in contact. I did sneak over to your menu and see you eat very little. Wow. Will admit I have problems coordinating carbs. Like I should eat a banana and oatmeal on the same day. blah blah blah Thanks. Kathy W.
