Very strange... People just haven't been showing up to zumba. Last Wednesday, I was the only one there, and today it was just two of us. I could tell that the instructor's feelings were hurt, but her class is really boring. I just go because I'm so desperate to lose weight that I'll take any exercise, so I'll keep going. Of course Saturday class always has a lot of people because that instructor is so good. I really wasn't very enthusiastic tonight. I probably didn't burn as many calories as I normally do, but at least I went. Oh yeah, and her CD kept skipping. She kept having to start songs over. The class really kinda sucked.

Well that's no fun. Hats off to you for keeping going. I know you don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but I can't help thinking that maybe you need to find some other exercise to do that will benefit you more? You won't burn the calories optimally if you're not into the class. Maybe your energy should be used on something else?

I know what you mean Kingkeld, but I really love zumba, and I want to learn as much as I can because I want to instruct when I reach my weight goal. Unfortunately, I'm locked into a year contract at that gym. I've checked all the other gyms in the area. I would have to sign up as a member in order to take their classes, and I can't afford two gym memberships. So, I just have to get through it I guess. I don't like running and I hate exercise machines.

I love Zumba, but for some reason, when I've gone in the past, I feel like something in my outer calves is going to snap - can't figure out what causes that, even asked my Dr. - I've gone to the classes at the Curves that I belong to, but just not quite the same, since you do Zumba, then a machine - back and forth. but I've tried muscle rubs, ace bandage on my legs, about 4 different kinds of shoes...nothing helps :( even hubby's meds for his nerve pain... nada - and running and me just don't get along lol - I'd beat myself to death hehehe

You think maybe you just have weak calf muscles? Have you tried to strengthen them with calf raises? What did your doctor say?... I HATE running too. I won't run unless I'm being chased by a dog lol. Zumba seems to be the only cardio I really like to do.

I won't run at all, from anything. I'd blacken my eyes if I tried! LOL! Is the weather nice enough to just walk outside? Low intensity cardio really burns more fat than high intensity stuff-the breathing heavy stuff is great for your heart but optimally, or so I've heard, you should have both.

Oh I didn't know that. Maybe I'll go back to walking on the days when I don't do zumba.

it's not the calf muscles, it's along the outside of my calf - just feels like something's gna snap and go "sproinggggggg"! dr has no idea...I've tried stretching, you name it...I just do my Curves circuit stuff and call it good plus walking once in a while. You'd think the walking would bother me, too, but it doesn't. I'm stumped lol
