IS IT REALLY MAY 8TH???

First, thanks to all my friends who have messaged, IM'd, texted, and PRAYED!!!! Things here have been a whirlwind. Mom is finally out of the hospital and is now living with us. She needs help with everything at this point. Not walking for 5 weeks will do that to a person. The hospital gave no notice that she was being discharged. I found out when home health called to tell me someone would be contacting me to set up her first visit. When I asked when that would be, they said we will call tomorrow and I told her I meant when was mom being released and she told me the orders were already written. So it was a mad dash to get the room rearranged (needed to put one side of the bed against the wall to guard against falls), and get her stuff from her house. We got here about 7:30 pm, Monday night. I am pretty tired right now, but I am so glad the doctors agreed to let me try having her here. They originally said no, Skilled Nursing Facility only, but we wore them down! :D

Food and exercise wise...well, I am maintaining...I have been pretty faithful following my low carb/primal lifestyle, with a few slips here and there, but no full blown pig outs! I call that a win. As for exercise, it has been running back and forth up until this week. Since mom has arrived, I have had 2 days of over 10,000 steps, and let me tell you, I am sore. Lifting, steadying, helping her walk...those are muscle building for sure.

Yesterday we got the plants moved back over from Baby Sis' house, trimmed up, and put into their summer homes. Mom helped with the trimming, and I told her I was making her work for her dinner...she asked if we were having hot dogs! Funny lady, my mom.

Well, that's about all the news that's fit to print from my corner...hope all is well in yours!

TTFN!

~Stef~

PS...we are waiting on biopsy results from my son's colonoscopy and endoscopy last Monday...they are checking for celiac disease and crohn's disease.

Hi Stef, thanks for the updates. I hope things are going well for you with mum living with you. I know you will be happy she is there with you and I sure hope things settle down. Sorry to hear that your son needed a biopsy, is that Jacob, that had recent bad gastric attack? And I hope and pray that his issues are easily resolved. Hope you are also trying to take care of you, not easy in the midst of the chaos that is your life right now. Hugs my dear friend.

I want to echo Bren's comments to be sure to take care of yourself. Your mom is very lucky to have you as her caretaker, getting her on the road back to her usual self. Prayers and hugs coming your way....

Keeping on your plan and 10,000 steps is so positive! I am really glad you talked them into having your mom at your house. They said my mom couldn't live alone and honestly, family knows best. Worst thing that might happen is you hire a little help, or or, there are always options! So glad you have your mom near you even though it isn't under the best conditions. Hope it all goes smoothly. It is hard on her as well.
