CollyMP's Journal, 06 May 2013

Well THAT isn't how I wanted to start the week! Stupid scale! I should have known better but felt it's been far too long since I recorded a weight. I ate Chinese food over the weekend, twice, and it always makes me puff up, I KNOW this. But every day for most of the last week I have spent hours and hours working HARD in the yard. I've gone to bed exhausted. I've had very little wheat (I have had some, here and there, but haven't had much) Those days when the no-wheat works well, I am not hungry and I hardly eat anything.

The stupid "period from hell" thing has been a JOKE-it's just the same as the last one, only lighter. Just a constant little bit of spotting, but all the painful boobs and crampy belly feelings to go with it, for over a week now.

you know...

I just realized that I didn't take my diuretic until 3 am. I know that's when I took it because that's when I woke up; my entire face closed and I couldn't breathe. Didn't take my Zyrtec or Flonase either, at the usual time and my allergies kicked in and closed every opening.

So yeah...erm...that, combined with the Chinese food...yeah, that could make the scale stupid. I usually drop 2 1/2 to 3 pounds overnight if I take the pill at around 8pm.

Well that's somewhat embarrassing...

In other news-the rash, the mystery rash that showed up months ago and stuck around for ages, is finally going away. Wheat reduction=mystery rash disappearing.

I think I really am going to do this no-wheat thing. I keep trying to talk myself out of it, but I just cannot in good conscience do that when I know what it does to me, how it makes me feel, and how much less I eat when I stay away from it. The appetite is nearly nonexistent (the other day my lunch was 2 slices of GF roast turkey, one string cheese, and a large carrot cut into sticks, with a couple of tablespoons of hummus-wasn't hungry for six hours, despite working in the yard almost that entire six hours). Yes, it is going to make eating out difficult. SUCH a first world problem.

I would imagine your muscles are holding the rest in water too after all that hard work.

That's definitely a possibility as well, everything jiggly has started firming up!

Well, you seem to have answered your question about why your weight is up this morning. It's not you and what you're eating, it's the pill issue, kinda like mine. I actually took mine this morning. WOOT.. I'm still proud of you for eating less wheat b/c you know you feel better when you don't eat it. Love you and it's ok.. take your pills and know that without them you store the water and can't twist yourself to squeeze it out!!!

I think there may really be something to this, for me personally at least. The more I read this book the more things click into place. The weird symptoms that seem to have no rhyme or reason suddenly make sense.

Awesome. I'm glad you're finding the source of the issues.

Me too-I'm tired of going to the doctor only to be told there's nothing wrong! If all my joints hurt all the time, I have vague skin rashes, I have "generalized inflammation" that is quantifiable by the doctors own tests...then how can there NOT be something wrong with me? It is not normal to feel so bad at only 46 years old!

SAY IT SISTER... I know how you feel and it SUCKS.

I know you do-they won't admit that no, a person of our age shouldn't feel this way and no, they don't know what it is. They just try to convince us that there's nothing wrong!

Glad the rash went away. Oh my goodness how I miss Chinese food. The hubs and I promised ourselves we can have Chinese food on our one year anniversary. Good luck on your journey. Stick with it!

Sounds like a rough start, but you know exactly what you have to do. Stupid woman problems right? Men don't have to deal with half of the crap we do, and they lose weight faster. Not fair! Anyway, don't forget to take your meds. Take of yourself!

Will do! I think I may double up on the progestin-she told me that it might be necessary to do that, and let me decide on it depending on how I felt. With the double dose I felt GREAT-with the single dose I feel pretty good, but not anywhere near as good as the double. My poor hubby doesn't lose weight faster, he hardly can lose at all, bless his heart. He's diabetic, it's got him all messed up.

Mike.. I feel your pain!! Sorry

Wow that must be really challenging for your husband, and then you have your diet issues. It must make life really difficult. Sorry to hear that. Sounds like you take good care of him though. He's a lucky man.

I do try to take good care of him-it kills me to see him inject himself every day though, I wish he didn't have to and I feel partly responsible for feeding him all the homemade bread and rich gravies and stuff all these years.

So glad you figured out why you had gained weight, definitely the Chinese food and forgetting to take your diuretics. Hope you feel better and weigh less tomorrow. And it is hard to give up wheat. I don't eat bread or rice often and I honestly can't say I notice any difference in my aches and pains when I do eat it or when I don't but on principle I say away from grains as I am a low carber. If you notice a difference, then absolutely stay away from it, easy to say and so damn hard to do. There is nothing like the smell and taste of fresh baked - anything!

Oh I know-and I've been a bread baker for over a decade now! LOL! Grain loaves, oatmeal loaves, artisan loaves, rolls, cinnamon rolls-if it's yeast risen I've most likely made it.

Why am I craving milky way bars the last week or so? Every 4 or 5 days I just YEARN for one! I NEVER eat candy bars, what the HECK!? I know today it's because I waited too long to eat and have yet a longer wait as I don't know when the husband will get home. The rest of them I cannot explain...wheat withdrawal? Maybe I'm craving that blood sugar spike?
06 May 13 by member: CollyMP
maybe listening to me whine did it.. you needed the sugar rush!! LOL.. HUGS
06 May 13 by member: MissyAnn63
You're not whining! We're TALKING! It's what friends do when things get tough! They're only 240 calories, I nearly always have at least that much to spare in my calories allowed. It's not a big deal, really, but it's just weird. I eat candy at halloween (milky way minis) and easter (cadbury caramel eggs). That's it.

Not today you don't... LOL! Today it's a full blown Milky Way Bar and you're going to enjoy the hell out of it. Hmm I wonder if talking or whining is on the exercise list?? LOL
