Time For a Change Mom's Journal, 19 April 2013

I am just really not in a good place right now. Work is falling apart, my basement flooded for the 3rd time in 3 years so we are without a basement again, the weather is crappy, I am trying to study for an HR exam and I can't concentrate, I stress ate last nite and the night before and I am determined to not fall into the trap tonite and over the weekend. I am trying to hold it together but I am about done. And it is not fair because I take it out on my 3 sons and my husband and it not their fault at all. I really wish it was possible for Calgon to take me away at this point. Yes, I am having a pity party. Trying to cope.

Sorry to hear about your basement! One day at a time and it will be better. Good luck with the exam. Deep breath!

Dont take it out on the ones you love. Save it for a meanie that has it coming! That said, hand in there. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate (no pun intended, lol) and you need to give yourself a break. Maybe you could sit down and confide in someone all the things your going through and how it makes you feel.

I'm right there with you Dee Dee. Too bad Iowa is so far from Nor Cal. We could have a good fun pity party together! :) Go have a glass of wine and take a soak in the tub. Lock the kids and husband out of the house if you have too. ~B

Can I join your pity party? I pass the wine and accept some ice cream...

Sorry to hear about your basement and work. It always seems as if life crashes all at the same time. Give yourself a break and take some time to destress. If you do, your family will love you for it and you will probably do better on the test. When I was in college, I used soak in a bubble bath and study at the same time. Multitask! Don't forget, the basement is going to dry out, work will turn around, and you will pass your HR test. Keep your chin up! Don't worry too much about the stress eating, it happens to everyone. Just get back on track. It's in the past.

I appreciate all of your kind words. And yes Barbara, I have thought many a time, too bad we don't live closer together. My hallway at work is quiet for now, I am trying to decompress before heading home to the mess of a basement. And I have a bottle of wine waiting for me in the fridge, too bad the calories aren't listed on the bottle, it must mean it is calorie-free right? DeeDee

Sorry I haven't checked in lately, but it sounds like you really need to decompress...find a night that works for your family and just go have some fun...to heck with the basement and all the other stressors. I can about bet, no one else will clean up the basement for you...it'll be there when you get back. I live in Iowa too, if you're close enough perhaps I can come help...?

Hang in there girl. I know it sounds cliche but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Go ahead have a pity party, as long as you end up feeling better after. Life can get overbearingly difficult at times, but that's what we are here for. To pull you up and support you. Hey, take consolation in that.
