I hope this means I'm losing real weight, not just b/c I am starving all the time! But I know its only been four days and this is when one starts to get crabby.

and hungry.
265.0 lb Lost so far: 4.0 lb.    Still to go: 65.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
on diet Atkins   losing 3.5 lb a week

It's water weight too but yes, with Atkins you will definitely lose fat. You shouldn't be that hungry though, you don't have to watch your calories and can eat all the Atkins' friendly foods as much as you like (as long as you don't go completely overboard).

You really shouldn't be starving all the time. Though you will learn to tell the difference between carb cravings and withdrawls and actual hunger. Try to eat some protein every 2-3 hours and that should help. The cravings should go away once you are in ketosis in 3-5 days. It does get easier.
